Enduring Ideal (79 cards) by Gary

Finished Deck

7.80/10 (<10 votes)

Deck link: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=1

This is a deck i made after i played a similar deck, which completely annihilated my boros deck at a tournament. I liked the way it worked, so decided to build my own, which i then took to the next tournament and beat the deck that beat my boros. Revenge is sweet.

Im not sure about the form of the dragons but a nice addition would be pyrohemia, or pestilence. you keep gaing life each turn and with those you can takd them down and keep the field clear of creatures.

The Forms are a major (but not relied upon) win condition of this deck, the normal tactic is to control the incomings from your opponent long enough to get ideal into play and then play a dragon or two.

I'll take a look at your deck now! :)

Sterling Groves and Enlightened Tutors. I recommend Aura Shards.

And your Night of Souls betrayal is counter productive with the Honden of Life's Web.

Try running some of the "Opal" theme. Most commendable, "Opalescence" would be a win card. Very well-thought theme though. Good luck!

Is this deck digital only, or have you been able to play test it? I would think that you may have trouble getting a good start hand where you have the mana to play the cards you drew?

Please comment on my R/W

@DGF It's been a while since I've played this deck but yes, it was real and it won quite a lot. There was enough ways in the deck to either get more mana faster or hold off the enemy with things like the Ghostly Prison until you have enough mana to play the big boys (or enduring ideal of course).

If I didn't get what I wanted in my first couple of hands I would discard down, if I still didn't get anything by the time I had discarded down to about four then I'd just keep the hand and pray. It worked most of the time. :P

I'm surprised you don't have any Yavimaya Enchantress in this. If you ever felt short on creature power there's no better way to go.

This is a REALLY cool deck idea but... it seems like way too many things have to go your way for this to be efficient at all, also it does not seem at all proficient at damaging your opponent/ did you consider direct damage??? Cool idea... too many holes.

I played this at a ptq a few yrs ago, It was a pretty tough deck. Enlightened tutors definitely instead of the night of souls betrayal. If you wanted to go off faster you could use drift of phantasms to transmute for enlightened tutor, make sure you always can get whatever you need in hand. Possibly taking out confiscate (seems you have enough tools to control the board once ideal hits).

Looks good, but my only concern is a fast deck as your opponent. At the tournaments i have gone to, any deck that isn't standard, is fast enough to wipe anyone out very quickly. For example, i played against one person there and knew that they had a very fast deck so i used the fastest one i had (goblins). Got them down to 6 life on the third turn before i had died. This seems like a slow deck and thus may not be able to keep up with opponents.

how is this deck still alive on turn 7? I would think numerous decks would be able to get around most of these enchantments, or something like tranquility would be game over.

if anyone is wondering how to deal damage with this deck look at the shrines, enduring ideal, and copy enchanment. that can deal up to 6 damage a turn, along with gaining 12 life, 6 creatures, and their entire hand getting discarded, all during your upkeep. providing it all plays out exactly like planned.

nice deck. just trim it down to 60 cards.

I would use lotus blooms, and burning wishes to get the main deck ideals up to 7. The dovescape should be in the main deck because after you have a lock you just throw that down and wait for your new form to win the game. I always thought that solitary confinement was a must in these decks. A well timed shrapnel blast = a game loss for you. Boseiju should help you keep your Ordeal from getting countered.

This is an impressive deck for a DID1.
Since I'm limited on the knowledge of cards in MTG, looking at this deck did show me the power of enchantments, so I guess a thanks is in order.

Its a good idea for a deck XD and i like it very much
However, it cannot be used effectively due to the \
Legendary rule installed by mtg recently
if two or more legends are on the field, they are automatically
removed from the field to the graveyard

lol dominir the legendary rule has been there since LEGENDARY creatures. If you never knew about it then i hope you wherent using 3 of the same legendary on the field. Also the rule is 2 or more Legendary with the same name.

I tried a similar deck back when Enduring Ideal came out, though I had to use very different cards for budget reasons.

have you considered tossing in the blue honden and Words of Worship? there's nothing quite like gaining 40 life a round (30 from the WoW and 10 from the hondens) and its not like your using your mana for anything anyway after the Ideal is out.

I also found Collapsing Borders, Spirit of Resistance, Faith Healer, and Worship to be very useful, though I wasn't running Night of Soul's Betrayal obviously ;)

Omfg.....

That's a really cool concept there, I might see if I can find those cards cheap on MTGO tonight and try it out. The Kamigawa block wells up tons a good memories for me, as it's the last block I played in before I took my few year break.

Now.

WTF is with everyone? Every other comment is "itz cool but look at MY deck lololol" or "bet it wont beat MY deck COME COMMENT ON IT". Jesus! This isn't your deck don't spam your f***ing s**t all over it. Netiquette? Anyone? It's bad enough everyone apparently failed grade school grammar, but do you have to rape the English language WHILE hijacking someone's post? Maybe this is just par for the course but for f**k's sake...
