They're there to thin the deck so you get fewer land drops later on into the game. You might have a point though; they do keep you off of tempo. I'm going to leave them for now, but strongly consider getting rid of them soon.
Yeah I see where you're coming from but you'd probably be better cutting to 20 lands, I mean this deck can comfortably play from 4 lands so you'd probably be ok. Gitaxian probe might fill that slot better as it gives you the advantage of seeing your opponents hand. That or Tezzeret's Gambit which is another great draw spell I think I'm going to try and test this myself once I've got the gravecrawlers and Messengers
