Deck Description

This deck does one thing and one thing only... blast people into oblivion and become un killable...

In order to win you use Boros Reckoner or Nearheath Pilgrim and Volcano Hellion to go off and once this happens... You win.

***THIS DECK CAN EASILY BE BUDGET***
I made the most efficient deck I could possibly make. You can make your own adjustment to make it cheaper but here are some recommendations...

-The lands are expensive you should replace them with:
*these changes will make the deck around $70
• 4x Jungle Shrine
• 4x Cinder Glade
• 4x Battlefield Forge
• 3x Sunpetal Grove
• 3x Mountain
• 3x Plains
• 2x Forest

-If you want to really make it budget the Path to Exile is the next to go:
*this change will cut the price to around $50
• 4x Roast will be a cheap alternative to replace it, however I HIGHLY recommend the Paths OVER the roast. It is worth the money if you have it.

***If you have any questions, just ask I am happy to talk to you guys.

How to Play

This deck has one goal...
***Get a Boros Reckoner or a Nearheath Pilgrim in play and cast Volcano Hellion.***
When this happens, Volcano Hellion deals ANY amount of damage to target creature. This has stupid effects with either Boros Reckoner or Nearheath Pilgrim.

THE COMBO
-With Nearheath Pilgrim in play you cast Volcano Hellion and soulbond to Volcano Hellion so it now has lifelink and you blast a creature for infinite and you gain infinite life.
-With Boros Reckoner in play you cast Volcano Hellion and simply shoot Boros Reckoner for infinite. Boros Reckoner reads: Whenever Boros Reckoner is dealt damage, it deals that much damage to target creature or player. Once you shoot Boros Reckoner, you use that damage to shoot your opponent's face for infinite damage.

OPENING HAND
-You want to keep a hand with...
• 2-3 Lands
• 1-3 Removal Pieces
• 1-3 combo pieces or ways to find the combo
• Ramp is nice but NOT necessary.
-It is important to note if you have Congregation at Dawn in your hand you NEED to have 3-4 lands. Be careful casting it because you need to have your lands in order because it puts the creatures ON TOP of you library and you won't be able to draw into lands afterwards.

GAMEPLAY
-You should always be in a position where you are able to find your pieces OR deal with something.
-When you play your Volcano Hellion it is ideal to do so when they are tapped out. This way they can't remove the creature you are targeting with Volcano Hellion before it deals damage.
-Make sure you remove only what is necessary. You have only 12 removal spells and they are spot removal at that. Do not waste your removal.

***THIS IS EXTRA INFORMATION FROM HERE ON OUT***

MATCHUPS

-Affinity
•Affinity is fast. You have to go off on Turn 3 or 4 and just out race them. That is you only way to win.
•Use your removal wisely.
•You want to bring in Stony Silence and Pyroclasm. This just makes sure you outrace them. If you want to bing in Melira for their Inkmoth Nexus that is fin too.

-Burn
•Burn is your worst match up. You need to load up on a lot of Boros Reckoner and Nearheath Pilgrim and play them out ASAP. You want as many on the battlefield so when you play Volcano Hellion your opponent can't remove everything and you can still combo.
•You should Soulbond Nearheath Pilgrim to Boros Reckoner and use that block and counter swing to gain life. This makes it harder to get burned out easily.
•Bring in the Leyline of Sanctity. It basically says you win.

-Junk/Jund
•Hand disruption sucks. You need to load up on threats and ways to search for threats.
•You just need to be consistent with your low end. No "draw go" turns.
•Boros Reckoner is a all star in this match up. It can trade up very well and you need to do so.
•Two Leyline of Sanctity come in for hand disruption because we really want to get use out of all our cards.

-Infect
•Just outrace them. They are fast you just have to be faster.
•You need to be patient with removal. Path to Exile is an allstar. Path their creature that they cast all their pump spells on.
•Be ready for counter magic and be careful when you are casting spells you care about.
•Melira, Sylvok Outcast is a hard counter to this deck bring it in.

-Goryo's Vengeance Combo
•You want to make sure you just combo first, like in a lot of match ups.
•They lack a lot of spot removal so just play one creature at a time so they waste their big sweepers on one creature.
•Bring in Rest in Peace and Leyline of Sanctity. Rest in Peace isn't always good but it is sometimes good and it shuts off half of their combo options. Leyline of Sanctity is for the hand disruption for the Emrakul variant and it completely shuts off the Borborygmos Enraged variant.

Would trample also work to kill a player? For example, if I have archetype-of-aggression and then bring volcano-hellion into play and target an opponent's creature with 999 damage?

Also, would aegis-of-the-gods or leyline-of-sanctity prevent the combo (i.e. controller hexproof vs. "The damage can't be prevented")?

And finally, if an opponent had a planeswalker on the battlefield, would the "Planeswalker Redirection" rule allow an opponent to redirect the 999 damage to their planeswalker instead?

P.S. If the trample strategy is allowed, rouse-the-mob would be a better card

P.P.S. Would a card like spirit-link work for the lifelink combo? i.e. play volcano-hellion then play spirit-link and target volcano-hellion; as the stack is resolved it would give lifelink and then the damage, right?

Doesn't Volcano Hellion do the damage to you first, so this only works if you begin your combo with more life than them, otherwise you lose? Is there a way around this that I'm just missing?

As of the 2010 rule change, lifelink is now a static ability (not a triggered ability), so this does work.

As Volcano Hellion reads "When Volcano Hellion enters the battlefield, it deals an amount of damage of your choice to you and target creature. The damage can't be prevented." anything it does is shoot yourself into your face. Either you make a tie game or you land on exactly the life you are because it deals infinity damage to YOU AND target creature so without Nearheath Pilgrim you will instantly loose the game. Why? Simply because you deal infinity damage to you and to target creature. I know infinity is infinity but what the heck its magic; - Infinity Life + Infinity Life = 0 so you stay at the same ammount of life points anyways. Even with Boros Reckoner you suffer infinit damage and your opponent suffers infinit damage; Oops a tie game. Your one and only option to benefit is when both creatures stay on the field so you would gain inifinty life to stay alive AND deal inifinity damage to your opponent.
Even your Layline would not help because it prints "You can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control" so you would need at least an Ivory Mask card for this to work.

Anyways Volcano Hellion could be a funny card
