Deck Description

A mono-blue elemental-themed deck with heavy lockdown spells and abilities.

How to Play

Get in damage early with creatures like Vaporkin and Frost Walker. Always keep a blue mana in reserve for blocking with Vortex Elemental. Save lockdown spells until mid- or late-game, even if it means taking some combat damage early on. And of course play lockdown on flyers over non-flyers, since most of your elementals fly.

The heavy hitters in this game are actually in the 3 and 4 mana range: Tidewalker and Living Tsunami. Only cast these immediately if you are in desperate need of blockers, or if they can kill your opponent in a couple turns. They will be much more useful later in the game--wait until you have 6 lands out if you can (or 7 if you are holding a Supreme Exemplar).

Especially don't cast Living Tsunami if you only have 4 lands out; while it is a great flyer for 4 mana, its ability will keep you from getting a 5th land out and playing bigger spells. Living Tsunami is best once you have something with a landfall trigger (Roil Elemental, Tideforce Elemental, Adventuring Gear and Seer's Sundial), because as long as the Tsunami survives you will have landfall every turn.
