Fear the Rats! EDHThis is a fast, somewhat competitive EDH deck. It relies on very annoying mechanics like discart, fear (creatures with fear can only be blocked by black or artifact creatures), land destruction and token generation to win. And some combos too! This is not a Relentless Rats deck.
Marrow-Gnawer can generate lots of rats and give them fear, allowing this deck to quickly overcome opponets. Mana curve is where the beauty of this deck is, as it only needs 5 lands (or 3 lands plus Sol Ring) to reach its potential (don't be afraid to use land destruction, just make sure Marrow-Gnawer is on the table). Put a lot of rats on the board, use removal to kill the threats and save the tutors till Marrow-Gnawer is on the field to get some combos going on.Having Thornbite Staff attached to Marrow-Gnawer and at least 1 other rat under your control goes infinite. This can be abused in two ways:-Altar of the Brood makes opponents mill their entire deck;-Blood Artist/Zulaport Cutthroat gives infinite life and makes opponents go to 0 life;Having at least 2 rats and Thornbite Staff attached to Marrow-Gnawer yelds an infinite amount of rats, one almost instant win con possibly at turn 6 (or even less with Sol Ring/ Dark Ritual).Illusionist's Bracers, Rings of Brighthearth, Thousand-Year Elixir and Lightning Greaves help creating more tokens, and Skullclamp refills your hand at the expense of some tokens. Stoneforge Masterwork makes another pseudo Pack Rat on the field, which will be very threatening to opponents.Akroma's Memorial and Eldrazi Monument will make flying rats. I keep them as a defensive play, as most of times they are not needed to win the game.If any opponents use black creatures, Filth can be used to give rats Swampwalk, making them pretty much unblockable.Tree of Perdition is the real MVP of the deck, allowing to kill one opponent with only 13 damage (which shouldn't be hard as rats have fear). This deck is all about winning before opponents can react. If pushed to late game, be prepared to some nasty board wipes. Making opponents discart (using both rats and sorcery) and mill (Altar of the Brood) are the most effective ways to defend yourself. This deck is intended to play on multiplayer (4+ players) matches. For 1v1 action, try to put as many Discart spells as possible (take out Tutors, enchants, Akroma's Memorial and Eldrazi Monument).
