Deck Description

Goblin Pauper 2.0! I've finally given my trusty 'ol Goblins an update for pauper, and decided to try new things. Basically, edited a bunch of 4s down to 3s, traded Mogg Flunkies for Mardu Scout (dash is great for aggro and synergy with Denizen) and threw in some more options other than ATTACK KILL. Now it's tokens, attack, kill. Some sideboard options for certain decks I hate (looking at you Glint Hawk) and the 'ol gang is back together. Enjoy!

How to Play

Play gobins and attack. Simple.

Deck discussion for Pauper: Krenko's Gang

Isn't Mogg War Marshall always better than Dragon Fodder or Krenko's Command? Also what about Dynacharge?

Having all three helps support Denizen, who is easily the #1 turn 1 aggro card in the deck. I've won countless games with him. And dynacharge has no place in this deck when SOOO many better red pauper cards exist.

Why not four Mogg War Marshall?

One's in the sideboard in case Heelcutter is too mana pricey for the match.

But wouldn't it be better to take out a Dragon Fodder or Krenko's Command for the fourth Mogg War Marshal?

Nope, you want the heel cutter out for mana curve and to help fuel Foundry Street Denizen, pretty much the best Aggro card in the deck.

I do not understand. Do you agree that Mogg War Marshall is better than Dragon Fodder or Krenko's Command?

They are all strong. None are "better" because they are all important.

Mogg War Marshall is better because you can sacrifice it for no creature loss. You can also chump block the turn it comes in and if you have nothing else to do pay its echo cost to give it a second life. It also triggers Foundry Street Denizen one extra time. The downside is the summoning sickness on the second token.

Like I said, Fodder, Command, and Marshall are ALL key pieces to the plan. Just because War Marshall is good alone doesn't take away the value of the other two cards. Why not just test the deck yourself and if you want to fix it to YOUR preferences then do so.

Sorry it just annoying that you could go down one of the extra cards for the last Marshal and there seems no reason not to...

It's in the sideboard if you need more speed like I already said. I didn't "go down one" because it's in the list.

watering down a deck makes it harder to get to finishers, even if adding one card makes it 3% less likely to get that card, thats a 3% risk you didnt need to take.

I didn't water anything down is the issue. Heelcutter, War Strike, Denzien, Grenade, and just the raw amount of goblins you throw out from turns 1-5 is enough to finish most games with ease.

Try Goblin Wardriver, I think he'd make a fine addition to the deck.

I believe he is uncommon.

Something I've found useful in every Pauper deck I've put together is Quicksand (printed as a common in Worldwake). It's surprising how many things in Pauper die to the -1/-2 Quicksand gives them. I run two to three copies in every Pauper deck I run, even my Naya Aggro Sliver deck and my Midnight Gond combo deck.

It sounds interesting, but this deck is primarily a creature aggro deck built to kill by turn 4-6. Quicksand takes up a precious land slot on your board and winds up slowing you down. While maybe a fun sideboard option or a valuable option in control,Ii find that in goblins speed is key.

I see you don't use the online banned list.... This deck seems ace, but sadly my local group goes by that banned list... What do I take out for grenade?

What online banned list? The Pauper banned list I use is on Wizard's site:
http://magic.wizards.com/en/game-info/gameplay/formats/pauper
And nothing in here is on that list (from what I can tell).

List of cards that though not on the banned list, are not at common on mtgo anywere. Seeing as that is the most played pauper gets in England those cards are added to the list of banned cards.

They are here:
http://mtg.gamepedia.com/Pauper_Magic

Though like other non supported banned lists its not official but its the list they use here.

Do you have a link to a list of cards that are printed as common in paper, but not on MTGO? The easiest way I check is on Gatherer, but that covers rarities of printed cards and not cards on MTGO.

The closest I can find to Goblin Grenade is either Collateral Damage or Reckless Abandon.

cheers man, I play mimic atm and Im looking for a change.

I didn't even know abandon was a card! It's only one life point one that seems like it will be good! Thanks again for all the help over the years!

@Necrumlsice I play paper and my place goes by the wizards ban list. Grenade is common from its first set, hence why it's in there. You need a replacement throw in the Bolts from sideboard, then trade them for potentially something like chain lightning or some more goblins. I'm not sure why Grenade is banned, as with bolt it answers Tron'a big threats, plus kills of Gurkha Angler which is HUGE, but if you're going by "online common" then don't come barging in saying "you don't play the banlist" without asking if it's paper. It comes off as rude IMO.

Im sorry? Ill alter how i ask in future, my group uses a differnt banlist to you so i was just asking for replacements, im sorry if i offend you. T^T

@Necrulsice it happens. Internet has no tone so you can't always read it right. Where is your playgroup and why did they ban all the cards? I mean grenade has been a Pauper goblins staple finisher forever next to Fireblast.

I think its because before we had a place to play we would play on MTGO, were those cards are not available in common, so when we did get some space at the local club to play and run pauper events we decided not to use those cards, just to maintain consistency? That's probably most the best reason as we all had to buy physical decks anyway to play, ha! Its been mentioned as going to the paper ban list but as far people always voted in favour of leaving those cards banned.... hopefully one day I get to put grenade In this list though...

Well that's a reason I guess. I reccommend then trying Reckless Abandon or just add more Commands or Fodders, then throw in a Fireblast or two main deck.
