very nice, I think that if I were to add something to it I'd add something like llanowar reborn, and maybe a playset of elvish mystics or llanowar elves.

I think I might change it to modern once standard rotates, in which case they'd be welcome additions.

Well, there is a bit to much sacrificing creatures. I dont know if you knew this, but sacrificing a creature doesn't count towards a death trigger. For example. "I use bone splinters and sacrifice elvish visionary." Your zulaport cutthroat's ability wont work, and you wont gain any life.

ya you do, that sort of combo works with my morbid deck all the time.

Not nescisaraly. Sacrificing is one thing. Dying is another. Like another example. "I use Putrefy and destroy my own creature." Now that is a death trigger. So, if you used a "destroy target creature" ability on your own then zulaport cutthroat's ability would work. Now if your spell said, "sacrifice a creature, draw a card." Then the other triggers wouldn't work.

Opinions on swapping Shadows of the Past for Hangarback Walker?

I like Shadows of the Past better here. The deck looks fun overall! I like all the entering the battlefield triggers, they combo well with Rally the Ancestors. It's too bad Rally exiles, as it doesn't trigger the "whenever a creature dies" effects. Still very effective, as you get a lot just by having them enter the battlefield, and it gives you a ton of fodder for sacrifice.

If they're sacrificed then they don't exile according to my local FNM judges ruling so typically, if an opponent survives rallying multiple Shaman of the Pack, I sac them all in to Nantuko Husk to gain the effects and keep pushing for the game. Thinking of throwing in Hangarback Walkers and maybe a Sorin, Solemn Visitor but no sure. This deck cerainly made impacts at FNM yesterday and my local meta doesn't have much countering so Rally the Ancestors usually goes unopposed.

You're evil, & you must be stopped. As for HB, I like it, but it depends on how much of an advantage you'd lose by no longer being able to filter your draws. +1, keep us posted on your results!

instead of vampiric rights or shadows, just put 4 evolutionary leap. Trust me.

Evolutionary Leap was in the deck before I logged it on here but the deck needed life gain as aggro often killed me before my graveyard had enough to take the game with Rally and my meta loves aggro. Upon mention though, I will see where I can fit in 1 or two.

I believe the card I'm thinking of is 'Bone Splinter'. Fits the theme, powerful card. Might be good here.

Sounds very good. I could replace Ultimate Price with Bone Splinters which would mean the deck would be better equipped against eldrazi, other Siege Rhinos etc. Also brings Altar's Reap to mind which suits draw power better. Definitely putting Bone Splinters in though.

Question: An opponent tries to cast a non creature spell, using up all of their mana sources. On the stack, I cast Collected Company and manage to pull out Vryn Wingmare. Is the opponents non creature spell effectively countered due to the opponent not paying enough?

I don't believe so, as the cost has already been payed, right? The spell just hasn't resolved. I'll double check, but I'm pretty sure Vyrn Wingmare won't have any effect after the mana's already been payed.

Here. 601.2e says, "Once the total cost is determined, any effects that directly affect the total cost are applied. Then the resulting total cost becomes “locked in.” If effects would change the total cost after this time, they have no effect."

Hmm, that makes it unclear whether the total cost can be changed while the spell is on the stack. I'd lean toward no, but I could be wrong.

I'd hope so. Being able to turn Collected Company into a counter spell would be awesome!

Freinds and fellow plains walkers, I have come to you in need. I have coemn to the desition that the life of a law mage is rather dry and stail. I have made a deck with the ideiology of witchcraft. I beg of you to please veiw said deck and aid my in perfecting this deck so that I may be able to add this knowlage of deck building to my arsanal.

sincerly,
Whitelord

After getting home from FNM, I have decided that I am dropping 2 Collected Company to add 2 Zulaport Cutthroat. I'm thinking of dropping something for Arashin Cleric. Thoughts?

I like it! It looks relentless! What have you had the most trouble with? It looks like it would be fun no matter the outcome each and every game! Check out my Jeskai build i just played with at BFZ game day.

It got me 4th at the game day. Only deck I had real trouble with was Hardened Scales and Mardu Rally but mostly due to silly mistakes on my part.

Has anyone seen the Oath of the Gatewatch spoilers? If so, how do you think Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim would fair in the deck rather than vampiric Rites?
