Main Deck (60 cards)

Sideboard (9 cards)

Sorceries (2)

Artifacts (4)

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

This was born from the idea of making a deck using Magus of the Jar, which is a horribly nerfed Memory Jar. The part that makes it horribly nerfed is the fact that Magus is a 3/3 creature, which means that it suffers from summoning sickness and it's within range of most common removal.

Now the way I know Memory Jar was used before its banning in every format ever, was to get out Megrim and activate at least two Jars (I think the Urza lands may have been used to accelerate into Jar's {5} mana). Then you just end your turn and because of Jar's discard ability, the opponent takes 20+ damage from Megrim.

Because the Magus sacrifices itself and costs {3}{U}{U}, I looked for a better card with the same / similar effect and found it in Jace's Archivist.

Liliana's Caress is strictly better than Megrim. I also included Waste Not as the value it grants is great when you use the Archivist.

[Sideboard is not an actual sideboard. Instead, it contains other cards I considered]

How to Play

1. Get out Jace's Archivist and Liliana's Caress.
2. Activate the Archivist
3. Repeat 2
4. ...
5. Win?

The dual lands are a must. Once online, you're going to be discarding most of your cards, so you need access to either colour from each land you draw.

Lore Broker is a mini-Archivist.

Howling Mine keeps cards in hands, fueling the draw discard effects.

Lightning Greaves protects the Archivist.

Rings of Brighthearth let's you use the Archivist's ability twice in a turn.

Tentacruel makes sure you never mill yourself.

Deck discussion for Archivist's Caress

Sorry for the late reply.
The deck is very intresting. (Tentacruel is expensive, sooo expensive)
Even so the rest of the deck has that sinergy I was aiming for.
The Rings of Brighthearth are amazing on this one!
Thanks for updating! :D

2-3 Elixir of Immortality can help do Tentacruel's main job here. Kozilek, Butcher of Truth or Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre can take the role too.

Glad you like it :D

Fun little trick I just thought of. With Jace's Archivist out (and ready to use its ability), Cast Dark Deal, and with it on the stack, activate Jace's Archivist. Jace's Archivist's ability will resolve first, filling the opponent's hand for Dark Deal to discard it, triggering Liliana's Caress / Waste Not for a lot.

Im really considering to buy this deck next month. Also a bit limited cuz I have to buy singles from other countries. For example, I can't get Liliana's Caresses on national online stores nor Waste Not. :/
That last combo you unsolved is a knockout :D

Word of warning, you may have to tweak the deck. It works fine in theory, but theory and practical are very different things.

Thinking of switching Lore Broker out for Languish / Mutilate. The mass sweep might be necessary mainboard.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. Languish could be a great choise over mutilate, imo. Not thay many swamps in the deck :P
I'll try to proxy this deck (my printer is out of ink) and test it. I did loved your R/B Do not Wast it. Both decks are an eye opener for a returned player to understand how mtg is atm.

Mutilate would require a tweak to the lands, but you must remember that Sunken Hollow and Watery Grave count towards its ability.

Didnt knew that. I have a quest on the same subject: if I have a Creakwood Liege on the battlefield and Sluiceway Scorpion, for example, will the second creature be affected by Creakwood Liege?
Cheers!

The Scorpion is both green and black, so yes, the Liege will give it +2/+2; +1/+1 for being green and +1/+1 for being black. However, the Liege doesn't boost the creatures in your graveyard (or anywhere other than on the battlefield), so it won't boost effect like Scavenge.

That would be too over power! :)
Do you know any international way to buy cards that is relatively safe? I'm asking this because some cards are not available in stock at my country (Portugal).

And btw, have you posted any G/B deck with the "Golgari" style from where I can take references from? I have one I'll share in here, soon. It's about Golgari style. I've got 3 Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord and I'd like to make a deck arround it.

I order from Star City Games, if I order internationally. I'm not sure, but I hear Channel Fireball isn't bad either.

As much as I like Golgari, my favourite Guild (flavour wise). Sadly, I've yet to find a Golgari deck I'm impressed with.

You could go Grixis and add Fevered Visions.

And it gives you kolaghan's command and chandra, pyrmaster (which is considered on of the best chandra planeswalkers)
