Deck Description

I've always been interested in playing tribal, and with so much synergy, Merfolk is were it is at. Running this requires knowing when to tap and attack, or when to pass so you can drop a lord on the board and islandwalk your way to victory. Looks of fun things to do with Reejerey as well once you get one on the board.

While I really wanted this to be a more heavy black splash Merfolk Tribal deck, as there are a couple of cards I'd like to play, specifically Touch of the Moonglove. Making it competitive and function is just hard without it being mono-blue. I'll be building an Green splash with Ixalan.

I think that Grimorie Thief has some interesting synergy with Merrow Rejeerey but getting them both to stick will be hard.

While I'm running 4 Harbinger of the Tides here it probably needs to be 2-of or 3-of and 1 less Rejeerey to bring in Kira or Clique, or the new Kopala.

Options under consideration:
Vendilion Clique - love the flash option as part of the Merfolk build and ability to known what it in my opponents hands. The ability to clique myself is also very powerful too if I need to 'cycle' something out.

Cavern of Souls - probably need another here in the main but I just don't own the card at the moment so they are in this section.

If I move more to the black splash and will adjust the land base to have more black mana available, these are also under consideration:

Fatal Push - this deck feels like it could run a playset of them in the main. I'd considering putting them in the SB in place of a "vapor snag"-like effect for more permanent removal.

Inquisition of Kozilek - certainly could find it's way in here, but not sure what I would take out. Thoughtsieze is another option with similar impact here.

Collective Brutality - this is a SB option as well with lots of upside. With the Death Shadow meta it might be worth it but my local meta is very mixed bag.

How to Play

Like most tribal decks, get bodies on the field and turn them sideways at the right time. Not a whole lot of interaction with the opponents board state but you have to know what their board state is and what they might be representing.

Early cursecatcher into silvergill is always a great start.
