Deck discussion for Modern Allies!

Selesnya Charm can buff up or exile targets. So, it is my suggestion here.
I do like the deck though. Keep going.

Thanks dude, how do you think this deck would do against top tier decks?

Since I am not too much into Modern, I cannot say for sure. But I guess that if you manage to drop Harabaz Druid on the turn two, you'll have a pretty good situation.
I guess this deck needs more turn 1 drops. Birds of Paradise is a good choice. Maybe in the place of Oran-Rief Survivalist.

You think Ajani Goldmane would be a good add to the deck?

Well, I think Planeswalkers fit in all kinds of decks. Ajani could be useful.

Love tribal decks.

Do you got enough mana to fully use G-wave? It's the kind of card I only see in elvish decks.

About Ajani... well, I don't really see it here. It's not a bad choice for a tribal deck, but I guess you could use that couple of slots for some other useful cards depending on your meta. Think on Stony Silence if you got too many Affinities, for example.

That is a thought....I dont know what i would take out if I did add it in the deck. In a way I think it may be power hungry and not so much strategy.

It may be a little greedy:) but my thinking was you don't have much to play T1 and this could be great start...

I think I have to agree with Hann's comment about Hardened Scales it was the first thing I thought of when seeing the deck, that and Ghostway is amazing in Ally decks as a win-condition or as a counter to Wrath effects.

Also I'm not sold on Genesis Wave; if you're hitting it for X=3 or less you can miss out on Talus/Turntimber it also dumps other Waves and Paths, if you hit it for X=5 or more then I'd be worried that it's too slow for the deck, Harabaz might ramp it up to cast Wave on turn 5 (maybe even 4) for X=5 or more but that probably only work once before your opponent realises that the 0/1 needs to be removed and 0/1's can be removed!

Maybe drop Wave's and add the forth Descendants Path?

I see your point ill trade my g-waves in to fix the problems in it so far. anything else you may suggest?

oh and what would i take out for ghostway?

0
Posted 16 April 2015 at 13:17

Well if you're happy to drop the Genesis Waves then Harabaz Druid becomes potentially replaceable with another Ally/Ally synergy cards since there aren't going to be any large spells to cast that would warrant the mana producer.... so maybe drop Harabaz, add 2 ghostway and an extra 2 land to compensate for the lack of a mana producers.

If you want to stay at 19 land then might consider dropping the Turntimber; the wolves are nice but they aren't going to benefit from +1/+1 counters nor the Ally etb effects and 5 mana in less than 35% land deck... well maybe Descendants Path/Druid will drop them/ramp them on to the board but looks a wee bit risky to me.

Another card I suddenly remembered is a new one I fell in love with and it'll probably be useful in this deck: Inspiring Call, it'll be another counter-wrath effect or a draw 5 cards+ for 3 mana or both, heck if you're lucky it can be a more efficient mana spent to cards drawn than Ancestral Recall and that's no small thing!

I don't know...the druid can help accelerate the deck more and make it faster if it stays....but ill do some play testing and see how it goes

With path you will want all the fetches you can run id say... maybe cut the thicket for some foothills or strands? I think strand is cheaper ATM ($12-33) so id aim for those. . . then again the foothills is good because it gives you to option to go into red if you ever decide to take the deck that way... I mean boarding into two Akoum Battlesinger and dropping two plains and adding two forges can really just blow up anybody in slow games when she comes up from a wave or hits t2 and mashes in.

I would add red but going tri-color may be too much....i might end up adding either blue or black later on when I really test this deck out at my store

0
Posted 16 April 2015 at 13:10

it all depends how deep the last colour is and if you have the mana to support it I guess?

I agree though, take it out for a test drive then give it a shot. :)

Nice deck, it wouldn't be able to beat tier 1, since tribal is all about synergy and in modern you wouldn't be able to pull it off.
Just like merfolk, it should be tier 2. (answering the question you ask Northy)

This is still a nice deck tho, surely to just play casual.

Splash blue, Call to the Kindred works wonders. It stacks with with descendants path. Take out your instances and add primal surge. Them maybe a laboratory maniac for another wincon, and elixirs.

Hi! I really like the deck. Particularly your inclusion of Descendants' Path which I may playtest in a deck I have. I have a similar casual legacy deck but I went with Humans with +1/+1 theme instead of only allies. I wanted to share a card that you may have overlooked but works extremely well with creatures with counters on them.
Mirror Entity. He is often a power house and a good unexpected win condition. Since he is a changeling he counts as a Ally and still triggers Descendant's Path. His pump ability increases the base power and toughness of your creatures and they still get the bonus of any +1/+1 on them so all your creatures will get huge quickly. Mirror Entity can pump your creatures even more massively with Harabaz Druid since you are already running him.
Here is a link to my similar deck if you are interested. http://www.mtgvault.com/mursh/decks/gw-human-11-overrun/

Good luck with the deck!

Doesn't this deck die to any kind of rdw deck? The creatures are all small and die to burn. Maybe you could try a Rootborn Defenses type of card? It basically "counters" cards like Supreme Verdict, Anger of the Gods, and End Hostilities and it also gives you an extra Wolf from Turntimber Ranger, if you actually use Rootborn Defenses. Valorous Stance and Ajani's Presence might work too. You should also playtest with all the white and green low-cost planeswalkers too, I think one of them might be good for this deck, maybe Ajani, Caller of the Pride of Ajani, Mentor of Heroes, idk.

/\ this is good advice for sb. If there is allot of burn in your meta you might even pull 2 druid to the side to run 2 main-deck.

Would add 2-4 more fetches that can fetch green or white, eventually i would splash blue allies in this deck. you got no draw synergie...add jawari shapeshifter and the blue card draw. -2 temple garden, ad one hallowed fountainand one breeding pool.
I would replace turntimber and a few talus paladins.. Jou would make your deck so mutch harder. the other stuff is good :)

0

Well, if u decide to add blue, than Jwari Shapeshifter and Sea Gate Loremaster are good options. Even Seascape Aerialist can fit.

Just sea gat en jwari shapeshifer is enough. This decks synergie would be alot better when splashed with three collours. Blue is the favorite tough. You could add red for haste. black for damage. blue for synergie and copies.

Gavony Township would fit quite well here. It, mixed with hardened scales, would work quite well with the +1/+1 counter motif you've got going on. Also, since you're playing counters, Dromoka's command would be a nice fit. It gives +1/+1 counters, and since your creatures will be quite big, it acts as a kill spell too.

1

what would be replaced though.... the only thing i can think of is the charm as they both occupy the same slot and uses but charm gets rid of fatties but command has more utility .... @_@ nope can't offer any advice on that.

descendants path and hardened scales seems really slow here and do nothing on their own. You would probably be better off with something like say domri rade and splash some stomping grounds or sacred foundries.
Then you could also run bolt or boros charm, probably boros charm since it does WORK in creature based lists.

Theoretically if you had a play set of radiant fountain and a play set of Selesnya sanctuary you could gain 14 life. Play a radiant fountain, bounce it back to your hand with Selesnya sanctuary and play it turn 3, you'd be up to 24 with 3 mana from 2 lands. Then if you used a voyaging satyr that turn, then on your next turn bounce radiant fountain back, untap the new sanctuary, turn 4 whould have 4 mana from 2 lands and you'd be able to keep up with the mana:turn ratio, but the life:turn ratio would be in favor of life. So I guess it's kinda a trade off if life gaining is what you want.

Nice tribal deck. Just a little concerned about the mana curve since you only run 19 lands. I know you have harabaz druid, but there's nothing else to produce you mana. You mentioned that you've been playing it for a while though, so do you rarely get mana-screwed? In any case, I might consider running some horizon canopy lands since they can draw you cards.

I would have to say 4x Ally Encampment would come in handy. I think you would get a lot more value from Champion of the Parish then Turntimber Ranger after all everything else is a human too with the exception of Ondu Cleric that is.

I was also curious in why your running Revoke Existence? Are many there a lot of Gods being played in your meta? If not I would suggest running Sundering Growth in it's place. It's an instant which can be very relevant as well as offers potential value populating an ally token.
