Deck Description

At the prerelease of SOI, I flipped the Thing In the Ice after casting a Grotesque Mutation on it, turning it into a 10/9 lifelink with nothing to block it. This gave me the idea: "What if I could do that with double strike?" Thus, this deck was born!

If you have any suggestions, please feel free to comment!

How to Play

Get a Thing In the Ice out as quickly as possible, remove 1-2 counters from it, then BLOW UP on one turn with buff spells and a double strike spell to flip it, potentially swinging for over 20 damage.

Deck discussion for 2x the Strike, 2x the Horror!

For once, I don't have any stupid ideas of what to add to a deck. You covered everything that I can see, and if KJSJ3 sees it, she'll probably criticize, so I'll make this short, and try not to make too many people notice this deck: Good job, I really like this.

Never mind, I do have a dumb idea. Why don't you toss a Slip Through Space in there instead of Glint or something? It would take the "potentially" out of "potentially fatal attack". And, for once, I managed to keep the suggestion in the legality you want.

No. Glint is my only method of protecting my Things. I'm not dropping them. Plus, who the hell is going to be playing Horrors? It's not exactly a popular creature type!

Comment noted padfoot. Slip through space actually is a decent suggestion along with expedite. Both replace themselves when used so you don't lose card advantage. The question is how to add them to the deck...

Is it actually standard with FRF cards?

Yeah, the whole KTK block and Origins are still in Standard at the moment! It's the biggest Standard pool of cards I've seen!

It isnt. http://whatsinstandard.com/# The two block paradigm makes it so.

I see now, the cutoff is DTK, rather than KTK. Thank you for pointing this out to me politely, unlike Wiggly down below.

Anyway, thanks for pointing that out. I was actually considering going to a tournament, but now it has to be modern, I have almost no standard legal cards...

1. It's Haloshark.
2. He's my friend, so get off his deck, too.
3. Why are you such a Whitecloak? Stop going around and judging everyone. Your own deck sucks!

Wiggly, who hurt you? It wasn't me, so please find a more benign method of dispensing your inner emotions than commenting on mtg decks online. Have a pleasant day.

Sorry for immediately taking the point, Wiggly, I hope I didn't upset you.

P.S. Thanks for being my conscience, Haloshark.

Reminds me of my r/g werewolf deck. My deck uses the same concept (buffing a creature then double striking him to win), it just relies on trample instead of returning creatures to force the damage thru. I like it, nicely done.
