Well Favored Hoplite, and Satyr Hoplite just get bigger with each spell targeting them. Turn 1 you could play a Favored Hoplite, Turn 2 play Titan's Strength and swing for 5. Aven Skirmisher is there just to keep picking at the opponent and use a throw away blockers if need be. and Akroan Crusader is there to get some tokens on the field. You can only do so much with a 1 drop deck lol.
You could run Dragon Mantle to dump all the mid game mana you will have.
Dragon mantle would be a great replacement for Coordinated Assault

You need alot more draw, you're gonna use all your cards within a couple turns and then be left with nothing. Maybe Dragon Mantle or Epiphany Storm, which fits in with your theme and is still Standard. I would take out a couple of Mortal's Ador or Titan's Strength.
I agree with all your points minus epithany storm. the only thing I would consider discarding is a land after I have 4 or so on the board and I'm already only at 20. I did add dragon mantle like everyone suggested. which with defiant strike should help the draw a little. I could also add Monastery Swiftspear instead of Akroan Crusader as well. And I would drop titan's strength for 2 reason's. 1 it's crazy strong for a 1 drop. 2. scry is almost as good as a draw. if it's a land you don't need get it out of there.

To be perfectly fair, you could probably run 18 lands and be perfectly fine. Back in RTR I was running red deck wins, which curved out at 4 mana, because fanatic of mogis is good. 18 lands was all I needed.
Yeah, agreed. 18 mana would be more than enough for such a deck. Also Chained to the Rocks instead of Oppressive Rays and maybe addition of Gods Willing(instead of Magma Spray or Aven Skirmisher) to protect your creatures would be good.
If going down in mana...consider the Mantle card and need for red mana.Thus...lower the white mana, not the red.
If it was one color i probably would. I just feel more comfortable with 10 of each. could be just me though.
The mantle is basically card draw with the option to buff if you have nothing else to do. Just a 1 mana cycle through my deck faster.
Chained to the rocks and Gods Willing are great ideas. I just worked them into the deck

ok I looked at your gruul deck and heres what i think, find a mechanice and stick to it. the evolve dose not need to be there. it's to slow for the deck and not so much the variety pick cards that will work well to gether

On a side note, If some of ya'll want to swing over and look at my Modern Deck i'm building. The stars of the deck are Brimaz, Sigil Captain, Hardened scales and Mikaeus. It may not be stellar to some people but It's the style of deck I like. I just want to know how to make it better. No Swiftspear or Foundry Street Denizen? Replace Aven Skirmisher and Satyr Hoplite for those. They're much better than Skirmisher and Hoplite
I honestly think Foundry Street Denizen would be a waste in the deck. Don't get me wrong. I love the card and run it in my goblin token deck, But in my opinion there aren't enough red creatures to benefit from the ability even with the addition of Swiftspear. I could see the addition of Swiftspear in place of Skirmisher. But I like Skirmisher. Reminds me of the old days when Suntail Hawk was in rotation. Also Dragon Mantle or Titan's strength on skirmisher could be a very big annoyance. But I do see your point. If anything I could see Swiftspear replacing Akroan Crusader. Which I will mull over and look at now.
This deck can easily be countered by a Chalice of the Void, you might want something to protect against that
True...but this type of deck is a challenge deck. The entire concept is to post the best deck that you can make using only 1 cmc cards. I think he did good.

Chalice is also not standard. If we're talking about modern he could easily change it to mostly 1 drop humans and run Cavern of Souls.
