Deck Description

Best case scenario:
Unblockable -> First strike -> Ninjutsu -> (second swing from incoming ninja)

First strike damage happens before regular damage. So if you drop an elemental and give it first strike when your opponent is wide open for attack, it delivers damage to your opponent and you may ninjutsu a ninja in it's place which will allow the ninja to take a swing and get the ninja's effect. Spells reflect supporting pieces of this mechanic. Also, it's still not terrible if you can ninja return an elemental even if the ninja doesn't get to swing. Recycling the elementals is a powerful thing. Just sayin', this deck will be bundles of fun.

Finally, unsummoning splashed in for returning ninjas and repeating ninjutsu for as long as the opponent stands.

Have you thought about Curiosity for more card draw?

unfortunately enchantments do not play well with this deck being that all creatures are meant to be on the field for as little time as possible

now your talkin'. I like it, didn't find that in my pass of cheap matching creatures, I might have to balance some numbers to fit him in for sure. Thanks!

Sakashima's Student would be a good card to add, though it isnt legal in modern, standard or extended. sideboard perhaps?

Really like it! How about Warstorm Surge or Electropotence?

ooooh, never seen those before. I like Warstorm Surge and might sneak in a couple. Electropotence has the same idea but costs more inline mana which means it might hang in your hand for awhile until enough land builds up to fit it into a combo

all those god cards are amazing. Thassa is a bit spendy right now though, I like keeping decks sub-100

Update to the roster. Lowered land count to 18 because, well, look at that mana curve! Triton shorestalker to compliment the early red-game and desireable properties. The funs are present in this one.

vapor snag in place of unsummon?

perhaps a sideboardable spell. I went with unsummon to allow the possibility to use it in a pinch should I need to recover a ninja or an elemental. As such, I was kind of thinking call to heel, but that has the problem of giving an opponent card draw should the scenario be reversed. Anyone know of a spell that gives an option of advantage to self/opponent? Repulse is perfect but then it takes the deck out of modern. If I go that route, im bringing back counterspell for sure.

Not sure what to add, you have the counterspells...but I love running Bounce in blue decks. Maybe consider that as a option. Sometimes, rarely, but sometimes making them replay stuff is better tempo then just countering their stuff.

Good luck!

A friend of mine made a deck like this. He used black and had the 1/1 unblockable can't block black souls (can't think of what they're called). Also, the threw in some ornithopters.

I have a deck with a some ninjas in it. Super fun deck. The one piece of advice I will give you is "Familiar's Ruse" - Cost 2 blue mana, counters just like Cancel and the negative of having to return a creature to your hand becomes a positive as you can pull a ninja back to your hand and Ninjutsu him again on your unblocked "Shore Stalker."
