Deck Description

Polymorphist's Jest. A new card to Magic the Gathering, thanks to M15.

Want to know how to make a Froggy tribal deck?
Polymorphist's Jest + Peer Pressure.

How to Play

Simple Version:

Step 1. You play Frogs.
Step 2. You play Polymorphist's Jest to make all your opponent's creatures frogs
Step 3. You play Peer Pressure stealing all of their frogs.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

More Detailed Version:

Step 1. You play Frogs = Memnite, Ornithopter, and Spore Frog. All early game drops. Spore Frog provides combat damage protection. And, believe it or not, the Memnite and Ornithopter will be Frogs, soon enough. Mutavault can easily be a frog.

Step 2. You play Polymorphist's Jest to make all of your opponent's creatures frogs. To help make Polymorphist's job easier, Rapid Hybridization, Omnibian, and Amoeboid Changeling also makes sure opponent creatures are turned into frogs.

Step 3. You play Peer Pressure stealing all of their frogs. With Peer Pressure, if i control more frogs than my opponent, any frogs he has in his control, I get to steal...so, to make sure he actually has creatures I have Forbidden Orchard and Beast Within.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

It is give and take, with this deck. Here is what to remember:

A) Make sure they have creatures to steal (Forbidden Orchard and Beast Within).

B) Make sure I always have more creatures than my opponent (memnite, ornithopter, spore frog, and temporal spring).

C) Use my cards that change creature types to ensure that more of my creatures are frogs, and less of my opponent's creatures are frogs. (amoeboid changeling/dream's grip combo, omnibian/memnite and ornithopter combo, and multvault can instantly become a frog).

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Breakdown of cards:

Memnite and Ornithopter = Fast, free creatures that can be turned into Frogs

Amoeboid Changeling/Dream's Grip = Combo has 2 Purposes: 1. Key to ensure that I have more Frogs 2. PLUS ensuring their creatures also count as Frogs.

Frantic Search = Search and draw engine. Hopefully will get me my Peer Pressure.

Omnibian = Several purposes: 1) Helps turn my Ornithopter/Memnite into Frogs. 2) Helps with pumping up my creatures, helping out with chump blocking/attacking. 3) Helps turn my opponent's creatures into Frogs, so that I can steal them with Peer Pressure.

Spore Frog = Not only does it up my Frog count, it is also a first turn drop, and great at providing combat damage prevention. It can save your life.

Beast Within = 3 purposes: 1) Acts as Artifact/Enchantment/Land hate. 2) Removes deadly creatures that my opponent may have. 3) Helps make sure my opponent has creatures that I can turn into Frogs.

Biomass Mutation = Once I have my Frog army, it is time to pump them up, and attack :)

Rapid Hybridization = 3 purposes also: 1) Acts as a safeguard, destroying any dangerous creature my opponent has. 2) Makes sure my opponent has Frogs to steal with Peer Pressure. 3) Can nuke my weak Ornithopters/Memnites and turn them into 3/3 Frogs, ensuring I have more Frogs then my opponent does.

Peer Pressure = My win condition. If I control more Frogs than my opponent, I get to steal all of my opponent's creatures, leaving them defenseless. It is what gives me my Frog Army.

Temporal Spring = 2 puposes: 1) Acts as great artifact/enchantment hate. 2) Makes sure my opponent does not have more creatures that I do, that way Peer Pressure will actually connect.

Forbidden Orchard = 2 purposes: 1) Gives me great mana versatility. 2) Makes sure my opponent has creatures to be able to steal.

Mutavault = Also has 2 purposes: 1) Acts as instant chump blocking/attacking. 2) Helps ensure that I have more Frogs than my opponent does.

Deck discussion for M15, Frog Tribal is possible.

Lots going on, in this deck, guys. Back and forth trying to have more frogs than my opponent does...and constantly trying to make sure my opponent has creatures to steal.

Almost every card in this deck has several purposes...that can be utilized, at key times, to balance everything in my favor.

Tell me what you think!

Equilibrium to slow my opponent down?
Kazzong pointed out that they could play too many creatures too fast for me. Something like a Goblin deck outpacing me.
Suggestions, people?

Fun and funny deck.
Equilibrium would be great to slow them down.

Yes, something like Equilibrium does need a place in her, for sure. Not sure what to take out...maybe either the Biomass or the Hybridization...i am thinking. I will sideboard it until I can do some testing.

Polymorphist's Jest can even beat Emkraul and Progenitus. I love it!

You might be outpaced by a goblin deck ... hmm, no real ideas other than some bounce.

Yeah, Kazzong also thought of that. You two guys think alike! I am thinking Equilibrium. It wouldn't slow Krenko/tokens down...but it would slow down opponent's playing creatures (they would have to pay 2 extra mana for every creature they play).

I actually made a Frog/Mutant dual tribal deck a while back. I'll have to dig up the link for ya, I think it might give you some ideas.

Any suggestions for this one?
When you suggest cards, I know to listen. From what i see right now, people are suggesting something to slow down creature decks.
In theory:
I have 5 frogs in play on my side.
Opponent has 3 frogs in play on his side, but 10 goblins on his side too...i can steal use Peer Pressure to steal his 3 frogs..but that steal makes ti me having 8 frogs and opponent having 10 goblins.
Maybe something like Propaganda, Equilibrium?

What to take out? The Biomass, is it necessary? It only has one purpose...and I hate cards with only 1 purpose. Makes me feel lazy that cards like that are in my decks.

Or maybe Rapid Hybridization? I mean, Beast Within nukes any permanent...so is more versatile...and Hybridization isn't completely necessary with all my other cards that I have to turn my opponent's creatures into Frogs.

Suggestions?

That's mine. It's A LOT different from yours, but you still might get some ideas from it, I dunno. I think my main suggestion would be the most obvious...You need more frogs. There's lots of nice little aggressive frogs out there. You can also go with two strengths of the deck's colors, ramp and bounce. Ramp means your dudes are out there earlier, and bounce means you just have more while they have to re-cast =]

Problem I found:

There are only 13 Frog cards that can be put in this current deck (green and blue). Only 1 of them is 1 mana (Spore Frog). All the rest are 3 mana or higher. Not a single 2 mana Frog available.

Frogmite doesn't have artifacts to help in this deck.
Plaxcaster Frogling doesn't have anyway to use graft in this deck, efficiently.
Species Gorger doesn't really help with him bouncing one of my creatures back to my hand.

Anurid Scavenger is viable
Anurid Swarmsnapper is viable
Bloated Toad is viable.
Anurid Barkripper also viable.

All of them are 3 mana.

But you are right, my deck does need more frogs. Sure, I can make sure I have more Frogs than my opponent...but if it is only 2 "Frogs" i steal from my opponent at a time...then the deck really isn't working as efficient as it could be.

Which frogs would you go with?

Do you know that your deck has 60,000 + views?!
Impressive!

0
Posted 16 July 2014 at 19:01

Yeah, a couple of my decks have over 200,000 views, which is just baffling to me.

Plaxcaster is great in my opinion. I did run into the same issue as you though, that there aren't any two CMC frogs and just Spore Frog as a one-drop. That's why I went the dual-tribe route with mutants. I think that's why ramp could be helpful to jump to those 3 CMC guys early. I will admit, a frog only tribal deck is not as easy as one might think.

My shop plays our own tribal format with a focus on oddball tribes, so I love working on these, so I'm glad to help =]

Thank you...with as many solid decks as you have built...any sort of recognition is awesome and well appreciated.
If i were to add (is there any mana producers that would benefit with Plaxcaster?), something like bops and Plaxcaster...what would you take out for them?

0
Posted 16 July 2014 at 20:27

I don't know if there are any mana dorks that could benefit from plaxcaster...

And sorry to say, I don't really know what I'd take out for them. I'd have to play the deck first. Maybe the Thopters/Memnites?

Here is what I have discovered, to get Hot decks:

1) Build Johnny decks. I am Spike, by nature, but no one wants to see boring, old Spike decks. Stuff like discard decks and blue control decks. People have been there, and seen it.

2) Pat people's backs. When I made this deck using Polymorphist's Jest, i deck searched the card...and found out that there were already several decks using the card. I looked and commented on a lot of the deck builders page, mostly praising them for using Jest with red burn. I asked them to come look at my way that I used Jest.

3) Use this site (and other sites) to find new (new to you) and amazing cards/combos...and go with it. I was looking through M15 cards, and seen Polymorphist's Jest...and I ran with it. Mtg is about having fun. Find cards that tickle your fancy, and make you smile...and then run with it. :)

The sky is the limit.
But, looking at your decks tleung, you don't need any advice/help. Your decks are all very solid!
Good job :)

A card has this ability: 1) "Creatures entering the battlefield don't cause abilities to trigger."

So..., 2) another creature has, "when this creature comes into play, you sack a artifact or bury creature."

Would you have to sack the artifact?

I have a new, interesting deck in mind, to make. I need to know this rule.

0
Posted 16 July 2014 at 23:35

Hushwing Gryff is the second card with this ability, the first being Torpor Orb. With either one out you would not have to sac the artifact. They do exactly what they say, creatures don't cause abilities to trigger =]

This also means that if a card such as Soul Warden is already on the battlefield, and a creature enters the battlefield (with Torpor Orb/Gryff out) it won't cause you to gain life.

It is done.

Hushwing Gryff + Torpor Orb = Insanely powerful creatures for dirt cheap mana cost.

A 11/11 creature with trample for 1 mana
A 10/10 for 5 mana
A 9/8 creature with both flying and trample for 4 mana
A 7/7 creature for 2 mana

If you have enjoyed this deck, at all, try taking a look at this one:

There are actually a lot of frogs in Magic. Plaxcaster Frogling, Whiptongue Frog, Crocanarua, Frogmite (which might fit in the actual build and most importantly: All the Anurid creatures have been errata'd and are frogs now. A quick database check says there are 18 different Frogs in Magic :)

depending on how late your game goes i recommend Xenograft, you can put your frog-ing to use on your opponent while all your creatures are permanently frogs

Please retag to say "theme" and not tribal.
Tribal is a format with specific rules or at least cards marked specifically as tribal in certain releases.

I do apologize, I'm really not trying to bash here, but i am tired of people using the wrong tag as it makes searching for "tribal decks" a lot more work then it should be. I will say interesting theme, and combinations.
