Deck Description

Grixis Artificers. I run 19 Artificers for inventor's Goggles. Most of the creatures can easily crew Heart of Kiran. A T2 Heart of Kiran into a T3 WeldFast Engineer can close out games fast. Weldfast also boosts my tokens. Vizier for copying key creatures like Whirler, Weldfast, Thopterist, or opponents creatures. I will try to keep this page updated with changes from testing at my local FNM.

How to Play

The basic premise of this deck is flying. Most decks can't effectively deal with a large amount of fliers. Sixteen of our creatures potentially create additional creatures with either flying or chumpers/improvisers. Nineteen of our creatures are Artificers which is relevant with our Inventor's Goggles. Weldfast Engineer pumps our tokens and can crew the Heart of Kiran while also boosting it to a 6/4. You can pull the Heart/Weldfast combo early and begin attacking for 6 on T3. Renegade Map is a mana fixer that also fuels our mana base to use Ramunap Ruins more throughout a game. They can also be used for early improvising if needed. This deck can quickly overwhelm an opponent as well as recover decently after a board wipe.

Deck discussion for Izzet Artificers

Got in a single game last night at FNM before having to leave. Won the round 2-0. Played a U/B Cycle deck that had a God-Pharaoh's Gift theme. Game 1: Maverick Thopterist with an Inventor's Goggles and two tokens knocked my opponent down to 11. Followed that by casting Freejam Regent. Next turn I swung in for lethal. Game 2: I went T2 Heart of Kiran into a Turn 3 Weldfast Engineer and defeated my opponent before he could create any sort of real board presence.
