Your friend is correct about infinite loops regarding something like infinite tokens entering the battlefield or gaining life infinitely. However when it comes to loosing life, once any player has 0 life that ends the loop since you can not have less then 0 life unless a card in play states otherwise. Feel free to ask a judge at http://chat.magicjudges.org/mtgrules/It's where I ask all may tricky questions.

Seems like Howling Mine isn't that great in this build to me. It helps your opponent greatly without any downfall, I really wouldn't play it out side of a Black Vise Punish for drawing deck. The main thing you're missing is removal. 4x Swords to Plowshares will go a long way. I'd cut the two Mines -1 Sanguine Bond and -1 Hatred. Mainly since they're mana costly and win more cards while never needing more then one of. Vindicate could be another card to strongly consider. By the way you don't need Sundial to end the Blood Bond combo. Your opponent having Zero life will end the game/loop. The only reason you would need Sundial to end the loop is if your opponent had something like Platinum Angel in play that would prevent him/her from Loosing the game.
Q: What do you want this deck to be for? Modern, Casual? I'm assuming budget?
As I mentioned back in February Vines of Vastwood should be a 4 of in this build IMHO. It really helps protect your fragile needed creature's. (Especially since you have so few). Apostle's Blessing should also be considered for the same reasoning as well as giving much needed evasion for the killing blow. Brute Force and Giant Growth are your weakest pumps and should probably go for these. Again these are just my opinions but I do believe having played Infect and against Infect at the competitive level they will very much help you.
I think Manic Scribe could potentially mill your Opponent more then Mad Prophet will more often then not. And Startled Awake will probably be better then Alchemist's Vial. I haven't play tested either of these but I feel they'd both be a better while speeding up your mill. I'm aware your going for a ton of draw to combo with Tutelage but you'd still have 22 sources of draw after cutting the Vial and the Prophet. In conclusion I like the deck and love playing mill. I run a competitive Esper build for modern. As well these are just my opinions and should be taken as such. Happy Casting.
I really like the interaction of the Kobolds and Cloudstone Curio. Tho I would't play Ornithopter since it doesn't work with Curio the missing 4 Kobolds of Kher Keep would be a better choice. Also run 4x Rite of Flame instead of Infernal Plunge. Finally I believe you would get more value/damage from Young Pyromnacer in place of Guttersnipe. Guttersnipe is just too slow and 3 cmc spells in a storm deck is too much. I do like the deck and these are just my own honest opinions and should be taken as such. Happy Casting :)
To be honest I really don't like the Mana Leaks in this build. As well Venom Sliver and Striking Sliver together will win games. It's one of my favourite sliver pairings.
Very true.
Well if first strike is really what does it for you replace No-Dachi with Archetype of Courage or Knighthood. Having to spend 5 mana before getting any value out of it seems really bad to me. Especially since it's only boosting one creature that can easily be removed after doing so. I really wouldn't advise cutting any creatures considering your only running 18 as it is now. I do agree Entangler could be cut and if the Door is working then make it a 2 of. Citadel Siege will do more for this deck then the door I'm sure of it.
Indeed. Obviously kamakazi339 should play test the suggestions but I think they will make the deck better over all.
I agree with the addition of the 2x Citadel Siege however the bolster mechanic is good but I think Support is better. Mainly since the cards you would want with bolster are creatures which will take away from the flavour of the Samurai. With the exception of Scale Blessing which could be a 1 or 2 of. I think Shoulder to shoulder could work well as a 2 or 3 of. I think I would cut The Door to Dwestinies and the No-Dachi for this. They're both pretty slow and don't have any immediate effect on the board.
Why? I wouldn't do that. A modern version of this would just loose all day long against any well built modern deck. I see this as a casual kitchen table build.
I would cut Tinder Wall since you don't really need the ramp aspect it offers and the sac for 2 damage is n't very good either. In it's place I highly recommend you play Behind the Scenes from Shadows Over Innistrad. It basically makes all of your creatures unblockable unless you find yourself going up against another wall deck. As well I think Rolling Stones would be better then Animate Wall. This would prevent you from getting 2 for 1'd and effects all walls.
Ya you are right for the most part as well as with the reasoning behind what you suggest. I'll add that this deck doesn't/ won't work in a competitive meta and is just a for fun casual thing. I'll update it as soon as I can for what is. Needless to say it's a different monster and not at all for modern play.
It only deals damage when your creatures die. the idea is to get the damage when the tokens you give die.
I wouldn't go as far as thinking you were an idiot. Just unaware. An idiot would have argued their point of view over clear reasoning and sense.
I don't think you were being mean just that you were giving poor advise without actually knowing that you were. As I stated the fetches are required not only for the thinning aspect but to consistently have access to green and white on turn 2. Another great way to think about Eidolon is the amount of value you get from it. Playing it on turn 2 or 3 either slows down your opponents own plan by making them use a critical turn 3 or 4 turn dealing with it or punishes them the whole time for not dealing with it. It falls so well into the ideology of the burn mentality of "It doesn't matter if you have 1 life if your opponent has 0" not to be played. Again just my opinion which I happen to know is shared by many others.
Just brainstorming here but Shadows of the Past and Lumberknot probably don't have enough initial effect on the game when entering, yet I can't help noticing how well they each fit the thyme of this build.
I'll start by saying I've been playing burn at a competitive level for 3 years or so now. My following advise is based on this passed experience. @ Padfoot8181 you are wrong and are giving bad advise. (This is not meant to be an insult just honesty). Eidolon is amazing and is played in almost all competitive modern and legacy burn decks. 90% of all decks in modern are made up of primarily 3cmc or less spells. If your opponents deck isn't then they wont be able to out race this in the majority of match ups anyway. As well the fetch lands greatly help in thinning as well as grabbing the green source for the Atarka's Command which again is being played in most creature based burn decks at pro level. As well as the white source for Boros Charm which again is a great aspect of the build. @ Thatch what I don't like in this build is Shard Volley, Having such few lands means you most likely wont want to sacrifice any at the time casting it. I would suggest cutting them and playing Grim Lavamancer as a 3 of and adding the 4th Boros Charm. Grim will make use of those fetches in your grave Boros Charm because well it's that good. If your not a fan of the Lavamancer Wild Nacatl is another great option which will take this into the realm of being a Zoo build. As for your Sideboard I don't think Searing blaze warrants a spot since it's not a card in which you would bring in against any particular arch type deck. I'd suggest adding 2x Dragon's Claw for the mirror match and 2x Exquisite Firecraft to bring in against control. Also 4 Destructive Revelries is too much. 2 copies of Torpor Orb really benefits this build against many match ups. I hoses Snapcaster, Aristocrats decks, Elves and Soul Sisters to name a few off the top of my head. Not to mention it takes the opponents choice to choose whether or not Vexing Devil stays on the field. In conclusion these are just my opinions and should be taken as such. Happy Casting. :)
I run a version of this and I have a lot of fun playing it, however admittedly mine is Vintage Casual and is borderline broken. I highly suggest running Not of this World to protect Lore. As well Sorin's Vengeance Is another great card to use, especially since I run 2 copies of Twincast. Here's the link if you'd care to look. http://www.mtgvault.com/maniacalmaniac/decks/living-ultimatum-of-vengeance/
