After playing the full tier 1 affinity for a while, I always encounter a lot of metal hate after the first match. Usually a lot of cards that shut the deck altogether like stony silence or mass removal such as creeping corrosion and shatterstorm. If tempered steel gets resolved, every single creature that enters the battlefield becomes an immediate threat, at no extra mana cost, not to mention the inkmoth nexus - 3/3 flyer with infect. Opponents will most likely be able to take on a couple of threats but I don't think anyone has enough removal to deal with this many creatures and manlands. Thoughtcast takes care of replenishing the hand once it is all down and ready for battle.It may not be the best version of affinity but it is a slightly different approach with an edge on the big hate cards against the deck. It is also just as fast.
