Maelstrom Wanderer is the pinnacle of random fun. Casting it at a pivotal turn is one of the most thrilling experiences in magic as the result might be a powerful combination of Xenagos, God of Revels and Inferno Titan, setting up a lethal hasty attack or you might end up casting an untimely Boundless realms and laughing at the absurd amount of mana on your field, while your opponent destroys you.
Primarily, the deck pivots around some early mana development with the intent to cast Maelstrom wanderer as soon as possible. Utilize cards such as Species Gorger and Vedalken Mastermind to achieve extra, affordable castings of your commander to generate an ever-increasing threat level on the battlefield. Cascade in to ramp spells? Use the extra mana to cast the spells that have been piling up in your hand. The deck is loaded with 5, 6 and 7 drop spells to take advantage of Maelstrom wanderer's ability and any excess of mana that might pile up incidentally. Otherwise, have fun and run them over!
