Deck Description

I admit I got a little inspiration from gothy, but I won't ever have the intention to copy him I don't know. This was also inspired by my friends awesome control deck, somewhat like this one. This is my first, full on control deck, I hope you enjoy

How to Play

A control deck based on stalling the game until you play some dragons and basically win by attacking in the air. The reason I ran kolaghan was because of his ability to shorten your opponents spells, they can't cast the same spells twice, but mainly his use is to be a 6/5 flier with haste. Thunder break regent is mostly for dealing damage to your opponent through his ability. Basically kolaghan and silumgar are win cons. The deck focuses on removing and making your opponent get to a low health and then finish him off. Crux of fate is a big bomb, make sure you don't sell out on mana when you cast it, keep one or two mana open to counter counter spells.

Deck discussion for Crazy Ideas:Flames Of Control

This is a neat deck. It seems slightly less potent than its Esper Dragons counterpart, but I love this idea none-the-less. It is deserving of a thumbs-up from me!

Note: You are aware that Kolaghan only restricts them from replaying Creature and Planeswalker spells, correct?

He is mostly used for the 6/5 body with haste anyway so his ability is just a little sidekick

Ok, I was not going to suggest removing him, it was just that your description said he punished for "spells" in general and I was just hoping to clarify. Good work again!

How about taking out the Wild Slash for Draconic Roar? Most likely you would have a dragon in your hand or on the battlefield(8). Draconic Roar deals 3 damage instead of the 2 that wild slash would do. Other then that, a like from me!

Wild Slash is cheap and has a great secondary ability. If you play test with both I think you'll find the cheaper the burn, the better. Also, Draconic Roar must target a creature before it hits player, end game it may turn into a dead draw, if the field control works as it should.

Looks an awful lot like my own Grixis Dragons deck. Personally I prefer Roast as a sideboard card and mostly use it as hate against Courser of Kruphix. Also, why no scry lands/temples? They're perfect for control decks like this. Overall, really nice deck!

Thanks so much! As I mentioned, this is my first control deck, I will try to find replacements. Thanks!

Again personal preference, but I would make it 4 Draconic Roar, and if you really want to have another burn card it could either be a roast or a plain old Lightning Strike. Just playtest playtest playtest and see what works!

Gothy is definitely a him, unless I missed something recently, although if you try hard enough there are photos of me in women's clothes for theatre! I would personally like to see icefall regent, I think he would fit perfectly, I quite like Ashiok because he can be amazing

Great deck. I run espir control and would love a game against this deck. I have one question, why no anger of the gods?

I dunno, I think crux of fate is good enough, maybe side boarding it might be okay

Crux is great. Its turn 5 vs turn 3, and sometimes those 2 turns can really hurt. If you look at the top decks, most are agro wimp, 3 damage would wipe them into a managable size and should stall out the agro tempo all together. Running it would be a little different, it might require a mod to your fetch lands. Mine are set up to pull double blue to gain access to silumgar's scorn, if you shifted yours to scalding tarn, it should have your early game burn/counter set. Draw into the black for the outright death spells I would save for the bigger(*/4+) midrange stuff. All of this is just my view on how I think Your deck should run. The deck is solid as is, these are just ideas to keep in mind durning play testing. Good luck man, I expect great things from this deck.

BTW: I would kill to have Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker be standard, fit him in for Ashiok. The deck is his kind of dirty.

gotta say really impressed by some of the standrad decks floating around the frontpage and that includes yours. i feel that a player returning from the revised set would look upon this deck and simply be amazed by the sheer glory it portrays. i honestly feel as if i should have permission to view this deck because it is just too mindboggling. its as if all the burn, removal and counterspells danced in harmony underneath the light of the moon while intensely making love to eachother. throw in some dragonlords and you have a fine stew going to feed even the most istvan of uncles. just pure bliss, are you religious because this deck could have only been made by god himself.

Thanks so much for the appreciation, I guess you COULD say I'm religious but I wouldn't put it exactly that way

I agree with above posts of adding anger of the gods and scry lands. and treasure cruise wouldn't hurt. 1 urborg, tomb of yawgmoth might help here also. murderous cut is also something good to atleast sb

I disagree, anger is a SB card in this heavy midrange metagame

as long as anger is in the list im good but list needs more scry lands and the others I mentioned above might help

I'd actually cut 2 stubborn denial for 2 crux main board, because you do needsome way to wipe the board

Ok but if you do do wild slash the secondary. ability will almost do nothing. I wouldn't even try to prevent that damage unless I'm on the brink of dying

Lightning bolt instead of lightning strike. That's my advice. :)
