It seems like Soulfire Grand Master would be even better than Tamanoa. Plus, you don't really have that many pay-offs for gaining all that life. Archangel of Thune and Cliffhaven Vampire come to mind.

The Problem with Soulfire Grand Master ist, that he dies to Pyroclasm and Volcanic Fallout. He also dies to Bolt and Push.Cliffhaven Vampire is not worth splashing a fourth Color. Archangel of Thune is an idea. I will test her.
Have you thought about using the pain lands (brushland, battlefield forge)? I believe they would gain you life off of Tamanoa.
