Deck Description

This deck is a casual budget deck that I created as a challenge to beat modern hexproof auras (bogles) for $20-$60.

I didn't want to build a pure bogle hate deck and wanted a deck that could hold its own against a lot of other decks too.

All critique, advice (budget or not) or tips on playing in a heavy hexproof aura meta are greatly appreciated.

How to Play

This deck tries to beat bogles on a budget and to still be competitive with other decks. It is also nearly modern legal. Just replace Standard Bearer, Remote Farm and Righteous Aura.

This deck is most effective against decks that play only a few powerful creatures. It is weak against decks that generate lots of fast mana and small creatures, like elves.

It beats bogles by shutting down what bogles wants to do.

It makes them sacrifice their own hexproof creatures that you can't target yourself. Use Blessed Alliance and Celestial Flare.

Ghostly Prison, Windborn Muse, and Archangel of Tithes force your opponents to only be able to attack you with one or two creatures at once. This is where Blessed Alliance and Celestial Flare become super effective.

Eidolon of Rhetoric slows them down and limits how fast they can build up auras. Its also just good against storm or any deck that likes to cast lots of cheap spells.

Spirit of the Labyrinth prevents card draw and kills their card advantage. It also neuters Kor Spiritdancer.

Squadron Hawk, Dusk//Dawn and equipment help give the deck some form of card advantage.

Dusk//Dawn is a power house in any weenie deck and can refill your hand late game.

Bogles are weak to flying creatures unless they have Gryff's Boon in play. This deck is full flying creatures that can swing with cheap equipment.

Standard Bearer completely shuts down bogles unless they find a Path to Exile. Its also just an excellent way to disrupt your opponents removal cards to protect the creatures you want the most. Spellskite is the modern replacement for this card but is expensive.

Quietus Spike and Mirran Crusader are the best answer to life gain. Spike deals more damage if they have more life and brings them back down quickly. It is twice as effective with double strike. The deathtouch is a great way to kill problem creatures with chump blockers or with Crusaders protection from green.
----- One attack: Swing with Crusader and Spike, opponent at 20, deal 2 first strike damage, opponent at 18, half their life to 9, deal 2 more damage, opponent at 7, half that, opponent at 4 life.

Mirran Crusader cant be blocked by and can also block Slippery Bogle, Gladecover Scout and even Dryad Arbor. The only card they run that is effective against it is Spiritdancer and Spirit Mantle.

If they play Leyline of Sanctity, things get harder. If you can't target the player or creature you are left with boardwipes or each player effects. Your only option is to try to race them with flying creatures and Crusader.

The Sideboard

Designed to combat Leyline of Sanctity, bogles and also be effective against other decks.

Fragmentize goes in versus Leyline of Sanctity, artifact/enchantment heavy decks and or as equipment hate.

Ratchet bomb is a great boardwipe for lots of situations. It also is highly effective against bogles.

Aura of Silence, Oblivion Ring, and Righteous Aura are cheap catch alls.

All other cards in the basically chosen for budget reasons.
