Deck discussion for Budget Decks: Landcrafting

Instead of Harrow, I might suggest cultivate since many of your effects allow you to put a land from hand to field. Or other cards that let you search for lands and put them into hand.

Otherwise, great XD

May I suggest a great landfall ramp card, Khalni Heart Expedition? :D

Once again I am impressed with the quality of these decks you come up with, really love the use of Roil Elemental, very cool synergy you have going in this one.

That being said, I have a challenge for you. I ran across an interesting card interaction that I'd like to see an actual deck built with, but am stumped as to where to go beyond the base card interaction. Doesn't have to be budget but it would be cool if it worked out to be. The cards are:

Spellweaver Helix
Kin-Tree Invocation
Raven's Crime
any creature with a big butt (tree of redemption comes to mind)

Hope to see it happen and good luck if you choose to accept. Happy deckbuilding regardless.

was this sort of the idea you were looking for?

http://www.mtgvault.com/clawzizking/decks/kintree-death-storm/

sorry for hijacking the challenge but the idea seemed like too much fun not to give it a shot. also sorry its a bit rough of an idea but i am currently honing it so by the time you see this it might be up to the speed I'm looking for. I'm hoping for the deck to take full control of the game by turn five consistently but it keeps tripping up on casting speed. might be adding paradox haze in to speed it a bit.

could use some tweaking but you've got the right idea. what is the purpose of the typhoid rats? their presence confuses me, also thassa might work better than the ethereal usher, as scry every turn could be better than transmute one, or maybe mystic speculation instead, since buyback could give the repeated casting needed for the spellweaver helix

Rats is meant to detour the early game attackers until you can get to higher mana . And the Scry every turn is a nice idea but that's about all she manages to be in a control deck. Especially if I have to wash out blue. The transmute guys were just an idea to help fetch the pieces making it like having five of each piece.

i would like to issue a budget challenge if might. i would like to see you create your own version of this:

http://www.mtgvault.com/clawzizking/decks/mono-green-self-mill/

also if you have time i would love to hear your opinions on it.

and as for this deck i like it. the only thing i might have done differently is run the lands that tap for two and return a land when they enter. that would let you get yet another use out of a land and would allow you to continue to abuse your play another land critters some more rather than having them waiting for you to draw another land or use another condition such as the morph guy to return them. other than that great job.

You have some flying and trample; why not add Groundswell to your sideboard, or perhaps your main deck? It will boost Pearl Lake Ancient by +5/+5 for only one mana, with the benefit of having instant speed.

Also, Search for Tomorrow would be perfect.

playing lands as much as possible so as to activate the creature ability landfall, which does a variety of things depending on the creature and is triggered whenever a land enters the battlefield. if you read some of the cards northern put in the deck you should be able to get the idea

Cool deck! I love lands, and this deck is totally about them! Explore might be a card that is not expensive and would be good in a deck like this one. :)

How about Adventuring Gear, basically a cheap transferable Landfall ability, would turn some of the early creatures into potential attackers, god knows what it'd do to the baloth though!

No Simic Growth Chamber?
No Trade Routes?

No Harrow!?

I had Harrow.

And what happened to it? It's about the best land-fetcher there is in landfall decks. Note that it is an instant! So, you can cast it in response to something trying to kill your Woodcrasher for example because it acts like a super-giant growth etc.

Well, exodd wanted me to remove it, and you know that I'm one helluva doormat, so I won't fight back to others.

Yeah, pretty much. As long as I am cool with the cards they are suggesting. Like, I really like Cultivate and all...

Makes sense in the way that you build these decks for the masses and not to play them yourself.

A couple of Kiora's Follower creatures would increase the effectiveness of the Walking Atlas and Tribe Scout. Otherwise, awesome deck!
