How to Play

Inspired by s0rinmark0v.

When Borgorygmos doesn't like something, Borborygmos smashes it! Use Borborygmos's mighty ability to negate all your dead draw! If you draw a land card, you can exchange it to 3 damage if you want so! This deck also has several cards that let you search for land cards, which can be used as mana ramp in early game and as burn cards in late game!

Deck discussion for Budget EDH: Borborygmos's Rage

Oh great northernwarlord ....

I humbly beseech you to consider aiding myself in the crafting of an EDH deck of low cost.

http://www.mtgvault.com/knightofthehokeypokey/decks/for-great-glory-edh/

With that otta the way ....

Is it physically impossible for you to create an expensive deck!?

I would trade rage reflection for assault strobe .... because ... SCIENCE! Really though, it seems to come out too late to make much of a difference except to your commander .... and since he has trample, curse of bloodletting might be a better choice. I don't know what it's cost is, but curses are hated on in general. Besides, are you really going to play multiplayer?

If you really want to be cruel, and use all those lands of yours, Budoka Gardener might be a good choice. He's a 2/1 splashable chump blocker or spell magnet in the worst case. On a good day, if he comes out turn 2 ... he will have 8 lands on turn 5 (considering your deck search for lands) so you could summon your commander on turn 4 or 5! The craziness doesn't stop there ... on turn 7 he will proceed to put 10 10/10 Elemental Creature tokens onto the battlefield! Just imagine the look on your opponent's face when you combine that with Gruul Ragebeast. Overkill much?

Here's his calling tag if you're interested:

Aside from that craziness, abundant growth is not a bad way to ensure you have the correct types of mana.

Oh, and walking atlas is a great mana-ramp and land-playing dude that found find a nice home in this deck.

P.S. I believe Borborygmos' famous line is, "Not Gruul? Then die!", found on the Gruul Charm. In fact, he's so badass, he can turn a land into a lighting bolt.

So much wisdom, so much sense...

Adding Budoka Gardener now. Though I'm still going to keep Rage Reflection, since many of this deck's creatures are beefy.

...and about that expensive deck... I hate creating them. What's the point of creating something that (almost) no-one can't get inspiration from? I'm also pretty bad in creating them.

Checking out your deck link.

Hmm ... so the great secret of NorthernWarlord's budget decking ... is that he's bad at creating expensive decks. :)

I know how priceful the Crucible is. That's why I think I'm pretty lucky for having one in my collection.

Fun fact: Borborygmos comes from the Greek word "borborygmi," which means "a rumbling or gurgling noise made by the movement of fluid and gas in the intestines."

Abundance!!
Veteran Explorer!
Groundskeeper !!!
Harvest Wurm!
Tilling Treefolk!!
Ghost Town!
Land's Edge!!!
Seismic Assault!!!
Heartwood Giant!
Grazing Gladeheart!
Storm Cauldron !!!!
Life from the Loam!
Rampaging Baloths!!
Firewild Borderpost!!

Too bad that Worm Harvest isn't legal for this deck ...

There are plenty cards in your deck you could take out in order to make room. I mean, for example Rubblebelt Raiders. Makov Warlord. Hamletback Goliath!? You were just filling the deck up to get to 100 cards at that point, don't you.

Actually, I was trying to make this deck an aggro deck while at the same time I was abusing Borborygmos's ability. This deck uses so much mana ramp that Hamletback Goliath and Markov Warlord seemed like good choices.
I going to add Life from the Loam though.

Then maybe update your deck description.

And Hamletback Goliath and Markov Warlord are still bad, no matter if you are going random aggro or actually making use of your Commander. First, most EDH decks have lots of mana ramp, so you won't exactly be faster than your opponents. Secondly ... if you managed to get 6 respectively 7 mana out, you could play more davasting things than those two ... even when on a budget again. The Goliath doesn't even trample! Something as obscure as Moldgraf Monstrosity is better than that!

Also, if you want to go aggro, abuse Borbor and make good use of all the mana ramp ... why don't you include any of the aggro critters with landfall?

Could it be that you confused the two Borborgymus cards? You listed Borborgymos ENRAGED! The other one would fit to your creature heavy approach.

I would consider running Hull Breach instead of Rain of Thorns. Seems silly to pay 4 more mana to have the ability to destroy a land in addition to an enchantment and an artifact.

Though destoying lands can be extremely useful in EDH, I got your point. Exchanging those two right now.

Very true, for the mana cost though, it seems very expensive. I agree, well placed land destruction can own in EDH. I usually like land destruction attached to creatures (Acidic Slime, Avalanche Riders, Deus of Calamity, etc...) or with other benefits (Mwonvuli Acid Moss, Into the Maw of Hell, Reap and Sow, etc...)

Damn right you are. That's mostly why I showe Acidic Slime in every green EDH.

I do think that Deus of Calamity would be a better add than Hamletback Goliath. Trample and Land Destruction in a 6/6/ fattie. Not too bad.

Other ideas: Darksteel Ingot instead of Alloy Myr, Gruul Signet, Mana Flare, Heartbeat of Spring, New Frontiers, Rites of Flourishing.

I liked this idea so much, I made my own variant.

Some cool interactions, Grafted Exoskeleton + Borby = Poison Fun!. Also, Creeping Renaissance is a good add to pull back any lands you have in your graveyard. Also, Storm Cauldron. tap 8 lands to cast Borby, return all 8 lands to your hand and pitch them for 24 damage. Not too shabby.
