Deck Description

Yes. This is my first very own deck, in it's today's form. I'm actually holding it in my left hand while writing this. So, do NOT expect me to edit this even if you sent some suggestions. This is a deck that only I can edit within my thoughts.
We have shared many great memories together. From the days I started 'till today. Cards like Gravecrawler, Diregraf Ghoul and Mikaeus are the ones that I will remember forever.

The most best side of this deck is that my friends are afraid of it. They do not let me play with it, not even speak about customizing it a little bit. Since I would love to at least switch off the Infests in order to replace them with Drown in Sorrows, which are -surprisingly- even better than Infest, which already has covered my butt far too many times. Also I would like to get one more Gravecrawler and Warchief.
They. Both. ROCK.

How to Play

This deck plays it's games with simple ways.
Basically it is something like:

-Cast zombies.
-Cast more zombies.
-Cast zombie buffers.
-Rock their world!

All the buffers in this deck (total 11 of them, if we count Zombie Master in too), will provide you with all the attack strength you need.
Early game zombos, Diregraf Ghoul, Gravecrawler and Highborn Ghoul perform all pretty well because of their natural abilities. Diregraf Ghoul is strong. Highborn Ghoul is evasive. Gravecrawler just won't stay dead!
You may understand now how powerful this deck can be, but let me give some examples. All of these examples have happened in real life against my friends or my brothers.

Example 1:

-Turn 1: Swamp, Gravecrawler.
-Turn 2: Darkslick Shores, Highborn Ghoul. Swing with Crawler for 2. (Opponent has 18 life remaining.)
-Turn 3: Swamp, Geralf's Messenger. Opponent loses two life. I swing with Highborn Ghoul and Crawler for 4. (Opponent has 12 life remaining.)
-Turn 4: Drowned Catacomb, Undead Warchief. I attack with all three earlier zombies for 13. Opponent blocks Messenger. Opponent takes 8. (Opponent has 4 life remaining...)

That was the first example. As you can see, this deck can proceed very quickly at early rounds if needed.

Example 2:

-Turn 1: Swamp, Diregraf Ghoul.
-Turn 2: Drowned Catacomb, Go for the Throat. Kill the only blocker. Swing for 2. (Opponent has 18 life remaining.)
-Turn 3: Swamp, Diregraf Captain. Swing for 3. (Opponent has 15 life remaining.)
-Turn 4: Death Baron. Attack with both zombies for 6. (Opponent has 9 life remaining.)
-Turn 5: Go for the Throat. Killing the only blocker. Attacking with all three zombies for 9. Opponent has 0 life remaining.
I won.

There are many, many variations of these two examples, but I rather not go all of them through now. It would take a pretty long time, no?

Well. That was pretty much my first deck in its today's form. As I already said in description, I rather not take suggestions, but if you have badass ideas, go on.
I hoped you liked the deck. Leave a like or comment if you want, and I hope to see you with my next deck!
Hugs from Northy!

Deck discussion for My first Deck, today.

That is nice
First deck? Wow! I understand why your friends are afraid of it
If I post my real life deck on here, could you help me find what I need to improve it on a budget of...let's say 1-2$, ( cards I can find easily)

Thank you for all your help
Some are just filler cards, I am going for an enchantment-based deck

Very nice deck, though you know, Northy, it surprises me that we're essentially the opposite when it comes to playstyle. I love my Green White indestructible deck, weathering the storm and shattering enemy armies on my shields. Someday, if I tune my deck up into this price range, I'll have to put your deck together and let my brother field it.

Fun looking deck. Contrary to Turtlebelly, we share a similar playstyle. I used this deck to get some ideas for the Dimir zombie deck that I'm building, only I used Undead Alchemist to infuse a mill component into the deck.

Lich lord of unx goes great with undead alchemist. Suffer the past is also a great card for a zombie mill deck. Get rooftop storm out. Cast your zombies for free and use your unused mana for suffer the past. I love zombie mill!!!!!

Possum, I know that Underground Sea is something like God's incarnate, but I simply do not have money for cards like that. The most priceful cards of this deck I have traded along the years, and almost the only cards that I have ordered online are Undead Warchiefs, and I classify them as a priceful cards that I'm not going to buy often...

Thank you so much for suggesting though. It means lot to me that you keep checking out my decks.
And I'm going to check out your demon deck too.

Maybe add one Black Lotus? I'm not sure what you would take out... it's pretty rounded.

That damn Lotus... It would take like, forever for me to earn money for that stuff...

Why would you need black lotus for this? Not much better than dark ritual, and costs wayyyyyyyyyyyy more.

It was a joke, "do NOT expect me to edit this even if you sent some suggestions" ... but you are right, ritual is a fine choice for mono black

0

Thanks about suggestion, but I think Rooftop Storm would just be an obstacle in my way. When I drop my sixth land, I've already played all other zombies except Mikaeus.

I see your point. I have a zombie deck with a much higher curve, so I use them.

I have a friend who plays almost exactly the same deck, but plays it with Endless ranks of the Dead, at one time he generated over a thousand zombie tokens on me which I held off with just two untapped shipwreck singers and four open mana. That was so much fun. He finished it of with the captain and so much damage. :)

And yes, we all fear that deck. Nice to see it has more inventors.

Have you ever heard of the gravecrawler + rooftop storm + grimgrin combo? Either way if it goes late game, rooftop storm frees up mana for your removal, but an infinitely large grimgrin is very difficult to deal with.

I know the combo. I did use it in my Grimgrin EDH.
Also, adding Diregraf Captain to the combo proves itself worthwhile...

Gravecrawler is a beast of a card, like Vampire Nighthawk. It combos with everything, and is one of the only one-drops I know that merits being exiled.

I have single copy in my collection. I once used it, but it seemed bad since my opponent always had enough creatures so they didn't lose anything valuable. Though that was just a bad luck and Call to the Grave is a great card. If I could get another, I would give it another try...

One card to look at that i have in my current deck (and thanks to this deck of yours i'll be making an entirely new one) is vengeful dead with the infest card itd kill off a good portion of life for your opponent. ive also been thinking about death pit offering since you dont have to lose a zombie in combat to have that ability work.

0

I once thought adding Death Pit Offering, since this had back then lots and lots of graveyard-returning. Nowadays... I'm not sure. Should I really add it?

its one possibility to make some beastly creatures but its just one combo of many. i can understand not wanting to change a deck tho. ive got a lot of decks that ive had since when vaan and i originally started to play magic that are totally beginners decks lol. im still a noob. if we'd kept playing we'd have been playing over 13 years now.

I am building one...a zombie deck...for my Creature Challenge deck. I hope it can only be half as nice as this one.

Mine probably is not going to be as combo filled and complicated as some Zombie decks I have seen...but not as straight forward as this one. I have always been scared to play with a Black deck. So damn complicated and self hating. Every time I think about making a black deck....i start to sweat and shake, lol.

As far as I am concerned, Black is the hardest to play.
Here is example. I go to Magic Search. Search for a blue/red/white/green card. And within a minute or two...I can tell you if that blue/red/white/green card is a really good card or a really crappy card. Now I go to Magic Search...look up a random Black card...and i can spend 15 minutes looking at it...and still can't tell you if that Black Card is good or not. And that is after playing Magic, off an on, since 2001!!!

Lol, so true. Black cards are really hard to determine the value of. Do they do more damage to my opponent or me?
