Deck Description

Starter Budget -series is variation of my famous(?) Budget Decks -series.
In this series, I attempt to create decks that go great for starters:
They do not have extremely valuable or complicated cards. Most of them are simple commons and uncommons.
Though, this doesn't mean that these decks aren't threat. In right hands (and some practice, of course,) they can overwhelm very tough opponents.
These decks are meant for those who have just dived into the mysterious depths of Magic: The Gathering, or for those people who like simple and cheap decks. Or, to just anyone!
Budget is meant to be low! (Less than 15 bucks.)

Remember: If you are new player, do not be afraid to ask if you have questions. Northy has always time for newbies!

Notice to those who have suggestions: Northy doesn't like to edit Starter Budget decks after creation. Northy likes them the way they are as he creates them; simple, cheap, and damn funny.

How to Play

Vampires are pretty cool creatures. This deck teaches newbies to handle this kinda-of-bloodthirst-vampire-deck.

Bloodthirst is one of the keywords in this deck. It basically means that you can cast your bloodthirst creature even bigger than normally would if your opponent took damage at the turn as you did cast it. Bloodlord of Vaasgoth grants all your vampires Bloodthirst 3, which means that Guul Draz Vampire is 4/4 if your opponent took damage this turn etc . Also those vampires who already have Bloodthrist gain this effect, which means that Bloodrage Vampire is 7/5 if cast with bloodthirst.

Key cards:
-Lots and lots of removal. Vampire decks enjoy using a lot of kill-spells which makes easier for your vampires to dive through defenses. It is also nice to kill the most annoying creatures.
-Bloodlord of Vaasgoth. Makes even your smallest vampires into a big threat. When you start casting one mana 4/4 vampires, your opponent knows that victory is starting to slip away.
-Early vampires. This deck plays heavily around those one and two mana vampires. You must get as many as possible as early as possible, so you can break your opponent's defenses.

Deck discussion for Starter Budget: Vampires

Man ... what a deck! This is one annoying starter budget.

Sign in blood and Tormented soul are downright evil here.

Nice work Northy!

Thank you HokeyPokey!
Tormented Soul is one helluva bloodthirst-triggerer.

Northy, I have a challenge. Build a deck. Only one color. Modern. And, it has to be under or very close to $6.00. Here is my version you need to beat.

Thank you, and good luck.

I don't know... Sorin's Thirst seem to be fitting the flavor better...
Thanks about the suggestion though.

Awesome deck! A quick clarification... why tormented soul and not pulse tracker? or maybe pulse tracker instead of ghul draz?
Thanks for posting it.

Actually, Pulse Tracker could fit even better than the Tormented Soul! Thanks!
Though it often dies on the first time it attacks...

No worries! I put both in my shameless (though properly accrediting) imitation of this deck at:

Do multiple bloodlords of vaasgoth stack their abilities? Can you gain bloodthirst 3 multiple times?

Yes. Bloodthirst abilities do stack. Check out How to Play -section.

So true! I may have to put this together to play. Well, at least my version of it. Northy, great job.
I salute you. Like +1.
