Deck Description

With the new Zombies that were released in Amonkhet, I was inspired to create a Zombie Tribal deck. Why, you ask? Because Wayward Zombie is too good NOT to. I like to think of it as the Zombie Tribal version of Blood Artist, if you will.

My very first Magic deck was Esper Artifacts way back in 2008 hen Shards of Alara was taking its run at the Pro Tour. I loved the color combination, and still do to this day.

I've recently decided to sell out of my current Modern deck; Affinity. I've played it for 5 years and, to be honest, I've gotten slightly bored with it. I figured, I like Zombies, so let's see what I can do!

When Amonkhet was being spoiled and I saw Wayward Zombie I almost fell apart with how much I loved that card. My mind raced back to original Innistrad block and I thought about Diregraf Captain.

I figured, 'Zombies are already heavy in black, so why not give Esper a shot? And thus, this deck was born! Let me know what you think. I wanted to stay within the limitations of the Modern format, but I'll take any and all suggestions.

Happy Magic(ing)!

How to Play

Ideally you play Gravecrawler on turn 1, but if you can't you shouds be able to leave mana open for for removal. Ideally turn 2 you'd play Servan, but if not you can either go for Relentless Dead or removal. I like to play RD on at least turn 3, just to make sure that he can survive and come back if need be. After that the idea is to just keep on playing threats until your opponent is too overwhelmed o fight back, and then pow! YOU emerge victorious.

Sideboard is build mainly around Zoo and Lantern; the two most popular decks in my local meta.
