Deck Description

Hello guys!

So this is my very first deck. I've just started to play MTG and the main reason to that is that I fell in love with the nagas when my boyfriend introduced them to me. I'm a snakeperson and love nearly all reptiles, so I immediately caught an inspiration to do a naga themed deck. I chose a wide range of different cards which I saw fit in the Sultai Brood/naga theme and my deck was originally 98 cards. I bought every single card, tested the deck, took away 38 cards and here it is how it is today. It's a bit slow still, since many of the nagas are quite expensive in mana. At the moment I'm waiting patiently for the new nagas and Dragonlord Silumgar to come, so I can see if I can make this deck any better with those new cards Dragons of Tarkir has to offer. The reason I didn't put Tasigur in this deck (although I know he would be a very nice combo with Sidisi) was purely because I'm a stubborn bonehead and I wanted to stick to the nagas.

I guess I'm doing a separate deck with a Sultai/naga/Silumgar theme when I get my hands on the new cards.

How to Play

This deck is quite slow, so it takes a few turns to start to get things rolling.

Since there's three Elixirs of Immortality in the deck, you shouldn't be so too worried about using Cancel or Disdainful Stroke in the early game to deny your opponent to get too much ahead of you. You want to bring the Elixirs on the table as soon as possible if you know your opponent don't have much spells to destroy your artifacts, but if he/she has, you can try to save three mana for using it immediately when it gets on the battlefield. It gives you quite much freedom to put cards in your graveyard without worrying it too much since you can always get them back to your library as long as you have the Elixir.
Sidisi the Brood Tyrant is something you might want to get on the battlefield as soon as possible. The best would be if you can have one or two Elixirs, Sidisi and Sultai Ascendancy on the table, so that you can freely put creatures in the graveyard to get zombies on the battlefield, if the situation is good for that. Taigam's Scheming is also good for getting zombies to the table and allowing you to control what's the next card you'll draw. If Sultai Ascendancy is on the table, you can also change a bit your choice if the situation requires it.
Kheru Spellsnatcher is a really sweet card, honestly, BUT you need a sh*t load of mana to morph her(?) so that's what makes her complicated to deal with sometimes. You don't want to waste her ability to snatch some not-so-good -card, oh no, you want to steel something that really pisses your opponent of... Like some nasty creature or spell or enchantment.
Use both archers to give some trouble for the flying creatures, and maybe bring Sagu Archers to the table morphed to either put your opponent to think which one might be the Spellsnatcher if there's more than one morphed creature in your side of the table, or you can give a nasty suprise for some flying creature by morphing him and declaring to block with him. Archers of Qarsi is quite handy since it can kill even bigger flying stuff.
And last but not least: use Despise and Sultai Charm to bring some harm to your opponent. Sultai Flayers are also quite annoying for your opponent if you get both of them on the battlefield and some other toughness 4+ creatures... Sultai Soothsayer works well with Sidisi and Flayers.

Overall, this is a work in progress deck, but still very fun to play although it's slow. :)
