The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Deck Description

This deck is built around Ravnica's guildgates. I got the idea when I saw this deck
www.mtgvault.com/zzz199/decks/gate-deck-3/
Maze's end is the ultimate win condition, but crackling perimeter could work too. Since both gateway shade and crackling perimeter require gates, gates enter tapped, as well as them being the only source of mana, I have lots of cards for untapping land. That's kiora's main purpose. The creatures would mainly be there to block, but they're good for attacking if needed. I tried to keep under a 30$ budget, so if you're going to suggest a card keep that in mind please.

How to Play

Get out as many gates as you can. Find crackling perimeter, and Maze's end as soon as possible.

Deck discussion for A Gated Community

For untapping lands with a planeswalker I would suggest Garruk Wildspeaker, tough he is a little more expensive ($) than Kiora but he can untap two lands per turn. Another (not really budget friendly) version of getting your gates out would be Primeval Titan as he can search for any land, not only basic lands. Expedition Map could also help you to get the last Gates out on the field (and is nearly budget against the other two suggestions).
The other basic though would be to use only 2-3 colours of mana to give it a more stable play. Tough you have 10 gates getting the right one in your hand to play spells like Kiora and a Doom Blade afterwards might be a problem. Maze's End decks saw action in some standard decks but I fear that those decks are much slower than modern legal ones.

Greetings
Muktol

I think I'm going to keep Kiora for a couple reasons: She leaves more room for other cards since I'm trying to keep this under 30$, She's more versitile since she can untap creatures (some of which can untap the gates anyway), her minus two could also be helpful for getting the gate I need out, and I already have her. Plus, if need be her 3 8/8s could be helpful, although Garruk's beasts and bonus could be too.
The titan is probably too expensive. I might be able to work him in, but it's unlikely.

About the mana: I haven't tested it, so it might not work, but with two of each gate, there are eight lands that can produce any given type of mana. There are lots of cards for untapping the ones I need, and a good amount of cards that let me search for the specific gate I need. Also, I try to keep the deck modern legal, but my playgroup is mainly casual.

Many of the decks used Cloudshift/ Ghostly Flicker to re-use Gatecreeper Vine.
Expedition Map could also be used to search Maze's End out of your deck which then can search other gates.

Door to Nothingness makes a good alternate win condition for this deck if they neuter Maze's End.

I already have crackling perimeter as an alternate win condition. Plus door to nothingness isn't as good in multiplayer as the other two
