Deck Description

WELCOME BACK TO HYPER BUDGET!
Decided to challenge myself; Build only decks that remain below $15, contain no rares, CMC 3 or below, no SB and could be used at a FNM with moderate success.

So we blew the below 3 CMC out of the water this time, NOTHING and I mean NOTHING over 1 CMC, this bad boy is fast and it can hit hard with the right drops...

How to Play

Pretty simple, One drop and go.... Look at this these shenanigans...

T1: Land, Suntail Hawk
T2: Land, Ethereal Armor, Ethereal Armor - 5/5 Flyer

or

T1: Land, Favored Hoplite
T2: Land, Ethereal Armor, Ethereal Armor - 7/8 Ground Pounder

Fun stuff going on here, threw in Elixir's for board wipe, kill spells etc. or just some life gain and a re-shuffle...

Dude, I have read through a couple of your decks, and you are a genius. These decks are impressively well-functioning for being such a low price. I probably couldn't ever build a deck as well as you, so I applaud and congratulate you.

Thank you and I believe you could build something even better than what I have done with these decks. What I do when I build these is find about 3 to 4 common/uncommon cards that have really good synergy and just build around that. One of the key basics when starting out in deck building is to try and keep it as straight forward and simple as possible... It may not win them all but it will win and probably more often than you can imagine.

The biggest bit of advice I can give is find what you type of play style is and find the cards to build around that, me personally, I play standard mostly but I love to build grindy decks; not necessarily control just a nuisance type of deck. So I tend to play alot of Defender, Bounce, Mill type of decks.

Again thank you for the comments...

One suggestion I would give is to trade Selesnya Guildgate for Selesnya Sanctuary. It doesn't come into play tapped, and can give you a choice between white or green if you only have two of one color. Also, it's still a cheap card.

Oh, and I would appreciate if I could get some constructive criticism on my Simic deck I'm building. I like the build so far but want to get it into even better shape before I put it into action.

civic saber is just useless in this deck. replace with something like selesyna charm, experiment one, or maybe unflinching courage

0

Charm and Courage wouldn't work because the deck is all about 1 CMC! However I did consider E.One, with a forced adaptation he can be really hard to kill. Before I had Civic Saber I was running Warriors' Lesson for some card draw to keep the board flowing.

Why not bonesplitter so it will have +2 to every creature not just 2?

because Bonesplitter is not standard.....

I seriously love this deck. oh you're just playing a suntail hawk.. oh wait what's that? uh oh... lol! brilliant

Thanks! Changed Hawk with Judge's Familiar for more synergy with Saber and some(ish) utility.

good choice, if it wasn't standard I would splash red for some vexing devils, but that's just me XD

Replace the suntails with judge's familiar... it's just strictly better and works very, very well with civic saber.

Immortal Servitude instead of elixir?
Would definitely help you out more with board wipes. Only 4 mana to bring back all of your 1 CMC in your graveyard to the battlefield.

Immortal servitude all the way in this :)

1

God I would love it, maybe you can make a sort of spin off with it in there? For now to keep true to a one drop Elixir will have to do...

Probably the most playable Hyper-Budget, as far as I can tell. Big fan of aggressive weenies. Boros Elite is just... good for this kinda thing.

I know you wnat one drops but 2 Mentor of the Meek would make it a hella of alot faster

0

But that's also a rare and not standard legal, so it doesn't meet his rules for "hyper budget"

0

Well you definetly need something that will let you draw more cards. Extra draws are essential with a deck full of low mana cards.

You are going to hate me for suggesting another card that is not with your goal for the deck but Immortal Servitude would be amazing in this deck.

Not really that's a 4 drop. EHeat would be really amazing if it was standard is rancor.i

It was in the first build, I am still toying with it and where I am going to put it. I may consider dropping a set of creatures or the Sabers for it but I haven't decided yet.

So, what do you do if your opponent just blocks you? I had a hard time without trample - any suggestions? The other player kept spamming tokens with Xenagos - there was no way for me to take him down.

Hopefully you have more and/or bigger creatures at that point, outside of that you have 8 creatures with evasion. Other than that there isn't to much else you can do to fight that off without changing the integrity of the deck build.

Skyblinder staff on a judges familiar? Vial of Poison to bring down big blockers?

Centaurs Herald - Larger creatures come out
Giant Growth - Speaks for itself
Sedge Scorpion - Cheap deterrent
Wasteland Viper - Better deterrent and possible pump
Serene Remembrance - Lots of one drops will die, get them back

0

I much prefer E.Armor and F.Adaptation, but will test G.Ward as it can be a pseudo evasion. Unfortunately Soldier breaks the No Rare rule in building, however feel free to build this deck anyway you choose!

Great deck! I love the idea of 1 casting cost cards. I drew many sample hands and got mana flooded. Maybe drop it down to 17 or 16 lands?

1

Yes for sure, during the building phase I had 16 but I bumped it up to 18... I do find myself flooding out to often so here we go.

-1 Plains
+2 Warrior's Lesson

The only thing that stood out to me (as a not very good/experienced deck builder mind you) is Civic Saber. Seems a little out of place. As mentioned above Unflinching Courage would be great in this deck imho. Otherwise looks like a fun deck, putting it together now.

This deck will do nothing. You get board whiped at all u lose......sry to be negative but that is what happens you blow your load of 1's then get them killed.

0

thats why you dont overcommit to the board. a skilled player could win with this type of deck.

Those are not in this deck and and if u can beat my standard deck with this i would be imprest maybe if the Civic Saber's were Gift of Orzov's.

I doubt anyone cares about impressing someone who cant even spell impressed. This deck is built to be an inexpensive one drop deck, not to beat the best decks in standard. Your arrogance is cute though, Im SURE your deck is perfect.

Yes. That would be a great addition!

0

I agree with the guy above, Gods Willing would be a pretty good card especially if your after 1 drops and common. I don't think civic saber is useful for this deck. I have it in one of mine and the only reason it works well is because as my creatures are multi-colour (http://www.mtgvault.com/surexius/decks/standard-rusher/)

Judges familiar is great with civic saber especially if you are facing someone without flying creatures he actually won me a game swinging for 3 each turn and stalling with my little ground guys

Hey Sway, good stuff u got here! I really like your Mill and Discard decks that I actually went out and build them.
I was wondering for your next deck, do you think you could do an Azorius Permission deck?

0

Would be tempted to drop the Civic Saber's and splash blue for Aqueous Form's. Boosts Ethereal Armor (which is where your explosive plays are), grants scry and evasion, costs 1, and a common in Standard. Looks like great fun though!

I didn't have all the same one drops to make this deck so I did it with red instead of blue and changed some of the creature like adding akroan crusader all I got to say is for a cheap deck it flew once I got started and I found sludge scropion to be a good target or deturante for my opponent

I took inspiration from this deck to make a red/white version. It's thus far ran fantastically. Thank you for putting up this idea. I went through several iterations before I settled on a boros setup. The deck is below if you want to give it a look. Fastest deck in my group right now because of how things work out.

With all your cheap creatures, you might want some card draw, maybe warriors' lesson would work.

0

Immortal servitude would be hilarious during long grindy games. Pay four to get every creature in your graveyard. (Not in this deck considering the hyper budget.) I think charging Badger is worthy of your consideration. Nyxborn shieldmate is a one drop 1/2 that you cannturn into an aura. Loyal Pegasus is a one drop 2/1 with flying. Its downside is it cant block or attack alone. Mortals ardor is a one drop instant that gives +1/+1 and lifelink. Id look into hero of Leina tower as well. It is rare so it breaks the hyper budget but when you cast a spell on her, you can tap mana to give her +1/+1 counters for each mana tapped. Do you mind giving me some advice on my new boros aggro enchantments? It is getting crushed by my brother's monogreen devotion. I'm going to add purphoros when I get him and replace the messengers speed with ethereal armor.
