The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Deck Description

Feedback would be lovely!
I'm open to suggestions for better cards.

How to Play

Alright, here's the deal: you have a graveyard like no other. Make sure to use it.

This is because of this guy Lotleth Troll. With him, you can discard Slitherhead and Chancellor of the Tangle and Sanitarium Skeleton to make him huge. And on top of that, you can protect him with Center Soul.

And now your graveyard: after making Lotleth Troll huge, you'll have some Sanitarium Skeleton(s), some Chancellor(s) of the Tangle, and whatever else you discarded to make him big (It That Betrays?) lying around. You can either: bring them back with Whip of Erebos for a hit, or you can bring them to the battlefield with Unburial Rites for forever (until they die).

And to add to that, you have Dreg Mangler. An amazing card that (with the right hand) can be played on turn 1. It can be scavenged onto something else to provide three +1/+1 counters or it can be brought back like the rest of them.

Add some solid removal spells to the mix:
----- Hero's Downfall, for any creature or planeswalker.
----- Bile Blight, for an annoying amount of tokens or anything similar.
----- And Utter End, for literally anything besides land.

Also: if you have the $$$, It That Betrays is an amazing game-ender that CAN be played on turn 5.
_____

And here we go; this is your wonder hand.
----- Lotleth Troll, Chancellor of the Tangle, Chancellor of the Tangle, Hardened Scales, Slitherhead, Caves of Koilos, Forest.

You reveal the two Chancellor of the Tangle for your 2G, you play your Caves of Koilos and tap it for 1B, and then you can play Lotleth Troll and Hardened Scales.

From there on, you can begin the discarding. Discard the two Chancellor of the Tangle to give your pal a total of four +1/+1 counters. Then you can discard and scavenge Slitherhead for four more +1/+1 counters.

Do I see a turn two 10/9 Trample? Yes. And if you get a lucky draw, Center Soul can help protect your Lotleth Troll for an (almost) unstoppable 10 damage on turn 2 and 3.

Deck discussion for My Decks: Graveyard Tactics

This deck is not only pretty neat looking Modern casual deck, but it is also a budget one!
Good looking deck you have!

If you don't mind, I could give you a couple of suggestions though:
-You should replace Doom Blade with Putrefy. With one additional mana, you can kill any creature you want or even artifacts! Plus, they can't even regenerate!
-It seems you are unable to cast Unburial Rites from your graveyard unless you get Abundant Growth. I suggest that you replace your Jungle Hollows with Sandsteppe Citadels, so you can cast the Rite without the Growth! This means you can remove all those four Abundant Growths, leaving four slots open here.
-Reassembling Skeleton is one of the best black blockers ever. If you use it in this deck, you can discard it once to the Troll before "casting" it from your graveyard.
-Hardened Scales doubles the effect of the Troll's discard, so I heavily suggest it.

If any of the suggestions helped, I'm happy. And if not, I'm glad you at least considered them!
But as already said, this deck looks it can handle its stuff. Leaving a +1 like here!

Definitely taking the Putrefy, and Reassembling Skeleton.
I didn't even know about Reassembling Skeleton, and I guess I just didn't think of Putrefy.
The Sandsteppe Citadels are a good idea, but I might do Scoured Barrens or Blossoming Sands or both (to keep it even more budget).

And I know Hardened Scales would be amazing for Lotleth Troll's discard, and I'm also trying to keep this pretty budget-y. I'm probably going to put it in though.

Thank you for the help!

in addition, do noxious revival over wildwood rebirth. 1 mana cheaper, chooses permanents (not just creatures), and can be paid for with phyrexian mana if need be

It's a good card, but it doesn't put it back in the hand.
I prefer being able to put it back in hand, so I can chain counter Lotleth Troll in a single turn instead of having to wait a turn for a draw (because this deck doesn't have any draw card).

well then may i suggest either ghoulcaller's chant (sorcery, but you can return 2 zombies instead+this deck has alot of zombies) or death denied (instant, costs x more but you get x cards instead of just 1).

Death's Prescence.

That's a good card, but it's really high cost for a deck that doesn't necessarily live off of creatures dying. It's more built to abuse Lotleth Troll. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I like the contagion engine itd go great in my famine deck. many of the cards in your deck i am unfamiliar with. though id suggest looking at some of vaan104's decks i know he has something similar he was experimenting with ways of getting in high mana cards quickly mainly emrakul.

Yeah, this really isn't much of a mana ramp deck.
I only put the big guy in there so I can discard w/ Lotleth Troll to give a counter and then bring him to the field using Unburial Rites.

And yes, I'm glad I found Contagion Engine, the double proliferate will make for huge amounts of counters.

This deck is pretty good/well rounded. Just a guess but I'm assuming you already had Pathrazor of Ulamog seeing as the deck is budget but if you are willing you can swap out him for It that Betrays, its such as crazy card/game ender or maybe Artisan of Kozilek for creature to battlefield plays.

Other than that I'm quite fond of scavenge decks. Varolz is a must if you are looking for scavenge options that are cheap, for example pair Varolz with Death's Shadow and thats a 13 counter swing onto one of your creatures for 1 CMC. Here are my decks if your interested -

http://www.mtgvault.com/sugarrush005/decks/golgari-scavenge-deck/

I'd also swap out 2 Chancellor of Tangle for 2 Veilborn Ghoul for discard/counter cycle on Lotleth, that would be a nice touch. TBH that would be the only changes that would solidify this deck. I like it as is.

Yeah, I went for Pathrazer because of the fact that I already have him and that he is fairly unblockable (considering the need for at least three creatures).

And I know about Varolz and the crazy things you can do with him, but this deck was more about Lotleth Troll's ability to begin with. I am probably going to make another deck using him and whatever else I find to be a good part of a deck.

I think I'm going to swap out Wildwood Rebirth for 2 Veilborn Ghoul and 1 Unburial Rites or something else.
It doesn't see much usage when I play the deck. The Chancellors do a lot for the deck, really. I love having that Vigilance, Reach. Especially the reach, seeing as how this deck would suffer a gigantic weakness to flying without it.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm definitely still looking around for a huge game-ender. I realize that Pathrazer isn't the best.

go with golgari decoy. after you buff up your creatures you just swing with everything. decoy is great cause everything that can block it must block it

I like this deck. I am trying to get into Modern and this looks like an inexpensive option. Does anyone have any other suggestions of good Modern budget decks?

I like Aggro, my main Standard deck is Abzan http://www.mtgvault.com/lorddeathseed/decks/abzan-aggro-reforged/. I've also got a EDH deck, it isn't working so well, but it is Aggro also http://www.mtgvault.com/lorddeathseed/decks/kneel-before-temur-ugin-edh/. I would be interested in looking at other deck types as well.

Well, a couple of other decks I have that function like an Aggro are these (though they are burn decks): http://www.mtgvault.com/synomonia/decks/casual-modern-burn-2/
http://www.mtgvault.com/synomonia/decks/casual-modern-burn/

If you think you'd bee interested in switching up deck types, take a look at my control deck: http://www.mtgvault.com/synomonia/decks/casual-modern-control/
It's a Mono Blue control deck that ends up spamming huge creatures after controlling the early game with counter spells and returning creatures to the hand.

And these are all nice budget decks, nothing is over 20$, I think.
