Well now, I love these kinda decks, the problem is that they suffer tremendously without the proper expensive mana bases and threats.But still I present to you a budget-ish mardu midrange for modern.The replacements were tough to get right, very toughYoung Pyromancer is often called the red bob and that's exactly what it is. Providing card advantage through 1/1 tokens instead of card draw.Painful Truths is replacing bob as well, you need card draw and drawing 3 is simply amazing.Kalitas is mandatory, he is simply too good of a threat not to run him in the deck and buying him will be worthwhile as I don't think he'll be leaving midrange shells anytime soon.Path to Exile is only a 2 of because of money, you'd normally play 2x terminate and 4x path.
The deck is a classic midrange deck, you have your discard to throw your opponents off their plan, removal to make sure we stay alive and that we get damage through and some high quality threats sprinkled throughout the curve.Lingering Souls is absolutely amazing, a must run really. Goblin Dark-Dwellers or GDD are usually either a kill spell with an amazing body or discard, be sure to remember that they have no synergy with Painful Truths however.Sorin acts as a great finisher, both due to his -6 and +1 being great value but also due to his synergy with tokens via his -2 emblem.
