Deck Description

This is the Mardu version of my pox deck. I have a mono-black version, an Orzhov version, and an Esper version.
Smallpox makes everyone discard a card, sacrifice a creature, and sacrifice a land. But your creatures come back from the graveyard and you have lands that replace themselves when they hit the graveyard, so Smallpox hurts them while helping you.
Boom//Bust also destroys 1 land, but you can target your fetchland, then fetch it in response so you don't lose the land.
The rest of the cards are for making them discard cards or removing their threats.

How to Play

Analyze and disrupt their hand early with Thoughtseize and Inquisition of Kozilek.
Remove their threats with Lightning Bolt, Lightning Helix, and Dismember.
As I described in the section above, Smallpox slows them way down while helping you. Here are several scenarios with Smallpox (discard, sac a creature, sac a land):
1) Discard Bloodghast and/or sacrifice 1 more or nothing, sacrifice Flagstones of Trokair (triggers a plains - Godless Shrine) to come into play so you don't lose a land to Smallpox. The landfall trigger allows you to get the Bloodghast back from the graveyard for free.
2) Discard Lingering Souls, sacrifice Geralf's Messenger, sacrifice any land. You can flashback Lingering Souls from the graveyard and Geralf's Messenger has undying so it comes back, STRONGER, with a +1/+1, and deals 2 damage.

Destroy your opponent's lands using Boom from Boom//Bust. Target your fetchland, and in response, you can sac it to search for a land so that the fetchland is no longer a legal target so you don't lose a land. It's basically a 2-mana land destruction.

Liliana is great for killing their creatures and making everyone discard cards (which you will not mind, since you can discard Bloodghasts and Lingering Souls).

Deck discussion for You Can't Kill the Undead...

I apologize that this isn't budget. But ignore that for now. What do you guys think? Any suggestions at all would be appreciated. Mana base, sideboard, etc. Thanks in advance! =)

Thanks for the suggestions. Yeah, I was really debating on the gravecrawlers because they need other zombies to be on the field, so more of them would help.

Compared to your other pox decks, this one seems more solid with the current metas in modern right now. What do you think about outpost siege? it's great for filtering and "extra draw".

First off, thanks for the advice. Hmmm. I'll have to think about it. Outpost Seige would really be good (of course assuming you meant to pick "Khans" instead of "Dragons"). I can probably squeeze in 2. Have to figure out what to replace...

Yeah, I decided to put in 2 Outpost Siege and remove the gravecrawlers completely since they would rely too much on zombies.

I can see this as being a long, grindy match with so much discard and creature/land removal.

Hello, yes, that was a concern. Triple black is high devotion in a mardu deck. I thought Urborg would keep me safe, but now that you mention it, I might consider replacing him with gravecrawler or maybe tidehollow sculler. Thanks for pointing that out!

Vampire nighthawk isn't a bad option either

I like him too. Flying deathtouch lifelink hehehe. Only problem is it's in bolt range, and no recursion, like with geralf's undying. Hmmm. Decisions decisions...
