Deck Description

After seeing the card Near-Death Experience I made it a personal challenge to make a viable deck with this card. I've made one before this but it was made for standard play, not as effective as I would like so I went for a casual deck. Please comment and if theres something you think I may have missed please tell me, The deck basically works itself down to 1 life and wins with near death experience on the field.

Angel's Grace. No idea why no one runs it in this type of deck.

Wow, this is a really good NDE deck. Have you considered Plunge into Darkness? It might be a cool idea. Also maybe pack a few Tainted Sigils as an "oops" card.

Thanks for the positive feed back. I added Angel's Grace, Its a great card I just didnt know about it. Wordupchon, soul gorger org would be nice but dropping to 1 and tapping out on my turn isnt ideal. And i have better ways to get to 1. I added 2 plunge into darkness into the deck to get a feel for it

Awesome deck, I like the wall of blood in this deck. Once you get the near death experience out you can win on the next turn

Yup! Thanks. Or the plunge of darkness just requires 2 mana to get yourself to 1, or the Celebrant only takes 1 black mana to get yourself to 1.

Does anyone have any more suggestions on how i can improve this deck?

I do =]

You only have red in here for the Bolts...If you took them out for something else more controlly or whatever and took this deck into being just B/W I think it would be much faster.

You're right, the red is kind of just in the way isn't it. Bolts are pretty unnecesary with my other ways to drop to 1 life. I'll maybe add in tutors or something. And thanks for pushing this deck into the upcoming lists :D

i have a fun idea :)
since you are pretty much murding yourself anyways why not run deaths shadow in there?
when you are at one life he is a 12/12 for 1black mana
it never hurts to have multiple win conditions.

please let me know what you think of my deck

Just because it could be awesome here, Deaths' Shadow? A 12/12 for 1 mana!

Good deck. If you put in a few Idyllic Tutors, you'd have even better odds of getting a Near-Death Experience when you needed it.

There's a black card (that I can't remember the name of) that lets you pay x life to get x 1/1 rats (down side is each opponent gets to do so too). I think it'd be a fun card for a NDE deck :p

Found the card's name - Plague of Vermin.

Dam I forgot how expensive (mana wise) the card was.

Very nice. It's good to see someone else making a Near-Death Experience that actually works! Angel's Grace is awesome, you inspired me to put them in my sideboard for my NDE deck (probably going to try and work them into the main deck but I'm not sure what to take out.) The only thing you could possibly add is Silence, as it will help keep your opponent from foiling your plans on their turn when you are at 1 life (Angel's Grace won't work against loss of life unfortunately)

If you wouldn't mind, I would love to hear from you on my NDE deck! I haven't seen a whole lot of people making these decks.

Pretty fun deck! I think Hex Paracite would be awesome, as you can activate him for 0 targeting himself... If your life total is odd, you win. NDE is kinda expensive, so I would confided adding Tomb or Grim Monolith for ramp

Alright. I definately see the sense in using the safe passage over anything like Holy Day. Stopping all types of damage is just too good.

Silence would be a god in here. I would drop the Plunge into Darkness. and all the Dark rituals. then add 4 silence and 2 more leyline. right now you will only start with it 25% of the time. Raising that to half the time will be incredible.

Now because you are using black and white, I would say add in, 4x verdant catacombs, and 4x Arid Mesa. They paying is awsome for the deck. plus it makes the deck basically be running 48 cards. 6 Plains, and 6 Swamp is usually a good number when using the searchers.
If you cant swing the money for them, then use Terramorphic Expanse and Evolving Wilds. Thinning will be your best friend in here.

Overall I love the deck. I love the originality. Simple thought process. Unique win condition. I'd rate the deck 7/10 in playability and 10/10 in memorability.

This is a great deck and the build looks great. I agree that Death's Shadow is at least worth a side board. Idyllic Tutor also works nicely if you decide to change to legacy or vintage and take out some demonic tutors.

Have you ever though about running Dark Confidant?

Or Phyrexian Arena.

Have you considered necropotence or yawgamoths bargain for card draw and life loss? If im not mistaken you can use their abilities the phase before NDE activates to keep your opponents from having much opertunity to interfere.

Also, Academy Rector with Cabal therapy can work great for control and enchantment fixing/finding.

A combo I use in a B/G/W deck is Melira, Sylvok Outcast and Phyrexian Unlife so I can get to 0 life without dying. I cast Near-Death Experience whenever I have it, and on the turn before mine I tap a Pristine Talisman for the mana and 1 life, granting instant victory. my other options are Repay in Kind, where everybody immediately has the lowest life total on the table (with 0 life this is also an instant victory), and Soul Conduit, and artifact that switches two players life totals (which I can use to kill an opponent, or save me if the combo isn't running. I fill the deck with infect to keep everyone else's life totals high in case I need to swap out to save myself. Two non-infect cards I used as walls or if someone beats me to Melira (it is a legend) are Etched Monstrocity which, if you have Melira out first is a 10/10 for 5 mana, or Death's Shadow. Casting Death's Shadow always makes everybody at the table look twice. It is a 13/13 for 1 black mana, but it gets -X/-X, where X is your life total. nothing funnier then having less then dropping a couple of 13/13's for only 2 mana. With theexception of Melira, all of the cards are black, white, or artifacts so it is possible you could find these useful. On a side note, if you do use the death's Shadow, and you carefull construct your mana curve, you have to adjust accordingly. It is not really accurate to list it as a 1 mana card when building your deck, since you can't cast it on your first turn...it would just die. good luck!

This deck is very nice broken combo.
4 Silence, 4 Orm's chant, 4 duress, and 3 cabal therapy perhaps in sideboard to mess up the many counterspell heavy decks.

Worship + Phyrexian Processor is the traditional win condition for a 'Processed' style combo deck. Adding NDE makes your chances of winning off a combo there alot more reliable.
