Deck Description

I started in '94 with boxes of Revised, The Dark, and Fallen Empires. By Ice Age I was playing 30+ hours a week and the collection was getting out of hand. This was the first deck I started (back when Shivan Dragon was worth more than dual lands and before Black Vise got restricted).

Everyone I knew played some version of Channel/Fireball at one point. How do you not go R/G when you get a Channel and a Disintegrate in your first starter?

This is one of the last builds I played, after Chronicles and before Mirage.

How to Play

Ideal turn 1 is Forest-Tinder Wall, or Taiga-Tinder Wall-Kird Ape-Black Vise. Failing that, Forest-Black Vise with Channel and Spirit Guide in hand.

Turn 2 forest-sac Wall-Chain Lightning or Bolt-Channel-Fireball/Disintigrate. (Note: This deck can, will, and has pissed people off MANY times. But it's not designed to go more than 3-6 turns so it's far from broken.)

If no Channel by turn 3 just use fast mana to pump out a Horde or Djinn and just hammer each turn. The big weaknesses were CoP: Red and equally fast decks (which there were tons of back then). I've also lost when somebody Force Spiked a Fireball when I was tapped out and at 1 life from Channel. Force of Will also made this a very risky combo.
