Deck Description

I started by looking for an interesting red card of high mana cost. The idea was to build a deck around that card's theme, which would culminate with the casting of the big card. Out of that I found Din of the Fireherd. In doing so, I also found that Chancellor of the Forge made for a perfect complementary idea. So, I filled the deck with goblins and rats to flood the board while I waited for the mana to cast Din or Chancellor. But I knew the time in-between would be too long for the little goblins and rats to hold up against the bigger creatures that my opponent would cast. So I looked for a card or two that could fit in and give me an effective strategy to work with until I could cast my big cards. Well it turned out going for the top was the right answer, as I found two great planeswalkers that fit in perfectly. Both serve to get the big cards out faster and more consistently; both give me a way to get a bigger creature to work with or take out my opponents' big creatures.

Of course, adding the two mythic rare planeswalkers makes this deck much more expensive and difficult to build. If someone has less expensive alternatives that fit in, they are more than welcome to sub 'em in.

How to Play

This deck definitely has a three-phase structure. You come out early and often with your rats and goblins. Then Liliana and/or Koth help you in the mid-game and more efficiently lead to the big cards that ensure your take over of the battlefield in phase-3 and almost certain victory.
