Deck Description

My personal Innistrad themed human tribal deck for fun and nostalgia. Definitely not meta or anything but should at least be something I'm proud of. Its based off the first deck I ever had.

Sideboard is for other ideas. I was originally going for a aggro spam tokens, +1/+1 counters, and Overrun to win but realized I'm too risk adverse for aggro so decided to go for a route that goes for more flexibility.

Some of these are in the deck just because I think they're cool and want to see them there. Sadly it probably does cut into consistency but should still be fun and plus some variation is nice. That Elite inquisitor for example is taking one of Thalia's slots - I just have one and really like him. The Legendaries only have 2-3 to avoid getting two at once (hopefully).

How to Play

Dear future me,

Yeah so early game pump out some humans, Champion of the Paris + Thalia's Lieutenant should grow fairly steadily. Especially with the token generators to help the process up. There are some semi-reliable mechanisms (Mikaeus, Thalia's Lieutenant, Unbreakable Formation, Gavony Township) for adding +1/+1 counters across the board which should help keep building up your troops. The first strikers in particular should help trade at advantage. Chip away at their life totals.

The goal was to give you some flexible options for finishers. The two angels are flying threats that are difficult to remove (kind of). Odric should help clear out chump blockers and the creatures with vigilance + Unbreakable formation maybe will help with the counterattack. The latter in particular hopefully can flexibly serve as a pseudo-finisher, a defensive trap, and just a generic boost. But yeah if all else fails, building up one of the First Strikers or Angels through +1/+1 counters at least lets you lose with dignity (and maybe cinch a victory once or twice).

Innistrad W-G does not have many card draw options so Mentor of the Meek and Sigarda are your best bets. Gavony Township hopefully gives you some options during lategame turns when you're short on cards.

For removal we've always been pretty bad at adding enough but we've got Paths to Exile and we could maybe do some card tricking with Unbreakable Formation. I wonder if we can bluff by keeping a land or two open and then springing one of the instants.

You might ask - how do we win against combo or control or whatever decks we hated as kids? The answer is uh well we don't. I don't think this deck is fast enough to do that personally but I do think we can at least have a respectable match.
