I guess I don't understand why this card is so good. Care to explain?

it's irst ability makes it almost unkillable. In response to anything your opponent does, you can exile it to keep it safe from close to every card in the game.
That's why it's played in control decks where you can keep on countering and killing stuff your opponent plays, so the board is most likely cleared with the Aetherling being the only creature in play
EDIT: Also, you can make it unblockable and give it more power to deal more damage if you so desire. It can hit for a potential 8 damage a turn while still being able to exile it in case your opponent tries to kill it.

It's a stupid card in a UW control deck, so stupid in fact, most of the decks run only one or two of them. Once he's out, you basically can't get rid of him. Any sensible player will leave U open and as above, just flicker him to save him. Highly irritating :P

I understand that, but to me it just costs too much. If you're able to cast it and have mana open to blink it, in my mind, the game should be over haha

But I can see why now. I've had to play against it a few times and it is quite a nuisance.

Control decks 90% of the time do not run many creatures. Atherling is the only thing you need really.

Having trouble adding this card to a deck. Keeps saying it doesn't exist. :/
