This is it...my ultimate dream commander deck. Mayael's been on my mind for a long time, but haven't gotten around to building her because of money reasons. In order to build a quality Mayael deck you have to drop some dough. You could build Mayael on a budget and swap out for more expensive cards later, but it's better to bite the bullet and go all-out on her. I've also debated running Atla Palani but in my personal opinion Mayael is much better overall. Atla just requires more work to get things out. First you have to cast her for 4 mana, wait a turn, then pay 2 to tap her to create a 0/2 egg, and finally find a way to break the egg. That's a lot of effort! With Mayael, as long as she survives a turn on the board, you pay six mana, and then dig through top five cards and find something big and obnoxious to plop into play. Much easier! The whole goal of the deck is to cheat nasty obnoxious things into play much earlier than expected. That's why you can't really build Mayael on a budget. The biggest, baddest, and most impactful creatures aren't cheap. And dropping a Vorinclex or Kozilek, Butcher of Truth on turn 5-6 is much more terrifying and hard to deal with than say Gaea's Revenge. Anyway, hope you enjoy the build and don't hesitate to comment or offer suggestions. Happy Building!
