This deck has one purpose: to assemble a three-card combo that allows you to win at the beginning of your upkeep with exactly 1 life.
The Combo Pieces:1. Near-Death Experience (Your Win Condition): This enchantment says "At the beginning of your upkeep, if you have exactly 1 life, you win the game."2. Axis of Mortality (Your Life-Setter): This enchantment says "{2}{W}, {T}: Exchange your life total with target player's life total."3. Tree of Perdition (Your Opponent's Life-Setter): This creature says "{T}: Exchange target opponent's life total with Tree of Perdition's toughness."How the Combo Kills:1. Get all three pieces on the battlefield. This is the hard part.2. Use Tree of Perdition to tap and set an opponent's life total to 13 (the Tree's starting toughness).3. Use Axis of Mortality to tap and exchange your life total with the opponent's life total, which is now 13. You are now at 13 life.4. Now, the beautiful part: On their turn, the opponent will likely attack you. You want this. You need to be brought down to 1 life. You have cards to help this happen. Alternatively, you can use the Tree again on yourself in a pinch, but it's messy.5. Once you are at exactly 1 life, you simply pass the turn. As your upkeep begins, Near-Death Experience sees your life total and you win the game before anyone can even draw a card. It's fragile, it's insane, and it's glorious!
