Deck Description

This is a copy from [[https://aetherhub.com/Deck/Public/241064]] which I slightly modified. This deck is a budget Pioneer Turbo Fog/Maze’s End Deck that stalls until it hits Maze’s End or alternatively goes sets off Approach of the Second Sun. Very straightforward deck.

How to Play

STEP 1: Play lands and Fog
STEP 2: Play More Lands and Fog
STEP 3: MOOOAAARR LAAANNNDDDDDS and maybe Board wipe.
STEP 4: Do you have Maze’s End or can Approach of the Second Sun? If not, REPEAT STEPS 1-3
STEP 5: LANDS
STEP 6: Cast Approach of the Second Sun again is possible, or why else are you on this step?

Deck discussion for Budget Maze’s End Pioneer

Instead of running other win cons i would run a bunch of prevent damage spells like holy day and fog then run some extra draw like guild summit and howling mine so you can prevent all damage from your opponent until you get your maze's end

The approach is in there if someone see the maze’s end is coming and gets rid of one of my one of gates.

Thanks for the advise. I definitely want to increase my draw power and guild summit would work. I can’t use holy day unless I wanted to try it in Modern, but I’m trying it in Pioneer because of the limited card pool to deal with less threats. I run every one and two mana cost Fog in the deck so I never have a problem Fogging. It’s mostly looking for the land ramp and Drawing cards is its’ problem.

ya guild summit helps quite a bit and for your problem with the mana fixing is that because you are running gates that have 2 colors you shouldn't have a problem with mana colors and you should run gateway plaza it helps with the fact that if they destroy one of your gates or even a set of gates the plaza should help

I'm always curious as to why people don't run Crackling Perimeter, at least in the sideboard in case you need it. I've only against this kind of deck a couple times, so I'm not an expert at piloting it.
Also, Gates Ablaze is only ~25cents so I think you can for sure find room for it. It's such a powerful card in this deck, IMO.
I would also run 1 copy of Gateway Plaza in case someone destroys one of your gates you have only one copy of, or in case of something like Unmoored Ego removing a playset of gates from your deck.

i run 2 gates of each and also 2 gateway plaza because of that and the deck is fun to pilot cause sometimes your opponent gets frustrated because you prevent all of their damage. I have a deck on my account build around maze's end

My first time playing against it, I was using Boros Feather (my version is more token themed with impact tremors). Yeah, it got really annoying how many fogs and board wipes he used. It makes me really want to make the deck lol. Fortunately, because of my token subtheme, which he wasn't expecting, I was able to win game 3.

P.S. I went to go look at your deck, but I don't think you have it listed as a public deck, so I couldn't see it.

Thanks for the comments! I kept everything streamline to 3 colors so I could minimize having to color fix since most of the color in the deck is Green anyways and I mostly just want to win with Maze’s End. I might make a sideboard with all of your suggestions and play test with the cards suggested to see because I haven’t really though of a sideboard yet.
