Deck Description

Latest version of my elf token deck. (Untested)

Sideboard is still experimental.
Elvish Champion is in sideboard on purpose. It stops me granting the opponent's elves +1/+1 and forestwalk by accident. normally I'd side out 1 of each of Joraga Warcaller, Elvish Archdruid, and Imperious Perfect for the 3 Champoins.
Squall Line is for a surprise sideboard insta-kill. Essence Warden and / or attacking should put your life total above the opponent's, or you could just suicide for a draw (I've done this before). Squall Line is a one-hit-wonder, so side it out immediately if it goes to game 3.

How to Play

Get Heritage Druid and/or Elvish Archdruid out asap.
Play a LOT of elves fast (tokens help here)
Play Ezuri and pump a LOT of mana into his 2nd ability, then attack for the win.

Deck discussion for Elf Token Thing

Immaculate Magistrate + Joraga Warcaller makes your elfs power go over roof!
Since you are splashing black you may consider Prowess of the Fair and Nath of the Gilt-Leaf, as for green token cards: Wirewood Hivemaster and Lys Alana Huntmaster.

I know about Immaculate and Warcaller, but I've yet to test it's affect on the speed of this deck.
Prowess and Nath are cool, but I find them a little slow for competitive play. This deck's main advantage is its speed.
Wirewood Hivemaster is sadly not legal in Modern.
Huntmaster has been tested, but it didn't work as well as I'd hoped. Its 4 mana was a little slow because by turn 3 my hand is normally empty...

Thanks for the suggestions anyway :)

When you said "Elf Token Thing" I thought you meant Presence of Gond and Midnight Guard.

I've gotten lazy at coming up with names for my decks, so this is how it turned out :|

Since you have so much +1/+1 counters and your deck is black and green, i would recommend a playset of Corpsejack Menace.

Doubling Season would also be great. Doubles the counters and tokens.

Thought of them. found them to be too slow. Also, I don't have enough cards that produce +1/+1 counters in here. Bramblewood Paragon only gives counters to my warriors.

I'm a big elf player :) ...I've played elves when it was legal around 2000-2001, I've played them when Zendikar & Scars of Mirrodin were legal in standard...

This deck is nice... ...tough elf decks need drawpower to be resellient against decks with a strong set of removal, pherhaps wipes...

Here is my version of the modern G/B elf deck that isn't really token orientated: http://www.mtgvault.com/poetmasterx/decks/evening-in-llanowar/

The black is only really in here because I really like Putrefy.

I don't really have space in here to add draw. The pieces rely too much on each other to have anything removed. Also, draw was scarce in the initial build, so I went for increasing the redundancy :p

It's fine, but if you want this deck to be resellient against wipes & such & survive tough matches, you have to drop the warrior token idea & add a lot of powerful draw here... :)

Awesome Modern, Ded. You really made something good.
I think I´m in love with that SB - looks devastating against any sorts of Legacy builds - gave me some pointer´s. Thanks !

Thanks
Really? It's just done like that because of some problem decks I've faced in Modern :p

It does not. I've tried Doubling Season in here before Parallel Lives existed and it slowed down the deck way too much.

Cool deck. What about Immaculate Magistrate O_o It makes your warcaller better and with bramble wood paragon you can make more of your creatures having trample

I've yet to try Immaculate in here (or any of my elf builds). For now, I won't include it until I've had significant practice with it.

Immaculate Magistrate is a bad card... ...4 cmc in elf & it does it's thing on only 1 creature, so it's easy deal with it...

I disagree. With joraga warcaller it would boost all his creatures

It's a nice combo, but it has conditions & conditions won't happen' often against decks with a strong set of removal...

When Zendikar & Scars were standard, Warcaller was best to boost Ezuri, so he won't get shot easily & with that, I could regenerate all other elves when a wipe came... ...the opponent could only eleminate my creatures, when he/she 1st used a removal on Ezuri, than a wipe on all my other elves... ...& even after that, I cast Lead the stampede & restart building up my boardgame faster than my opponent... ...of course, All is Dust were my worst enemy, but I could still manage to overcome, 'cuz I've had drawpower.......

I still think it deserves a chance

Tried it, requires too much chance. It's nice and all, but not reliable enough to make it worth while in this deck.

you want elvish champion in your main deck. also Zameck Guildmage for carddraw and +1 counters. also remove putrify and put in fireball instead. you have enough mana for it.

0

If fireball, than why not Bonfire, If you have it?.. ...Putrefy is really not a good card at all, especially in modern... ...I'd use Mealstrom Pulse instead... ...it's really not worth using black just for that... ...you gonna' need Prowes of the Fair, even if you want to stick to the worrior token idea here wich is not worthit, it still gives you elf warrior tokens & you'll be resellient against wipes & such... ...as I said twice before, draw is one of the most important elements in an elf deck... ...I've played elves every time they were present in standard & even many times in modern, so you can trust me on this!...... :)

I have a simi elf token build as well and PoetMaster-X is correct. Elf draw is amazing... however, i have also noticed that a well placed removal spell in just a typical elf build could end the game. I even started removing the token build all together from my build in favor of fast starts because Detention Spere is a thing :P

I´m currently toying with the idea of building a Green deck, that is a bit... odd. However since you are the one recommended by another highly respected Vault-user - surewhynot - I come to you, DedWards, seeking advice. I know you got the know-how on B/G Elves, as you have proven more than once, so I hope you can help me out. I will return the favor, if it is in my capabilities
The deck I´m having some trouble with is this;

http://www.mtgvault.com/blckfirphoenx/decks/legacy-pain-elves/

I feel like adding 4 x Vengevine´s, 4 x Fauna Shaman´s, 4 x Lotus Cobra´s and 4 x Evolving Wilds, but I´m am completely lost in this 'mess'. In Denmark we say that "One has stared himself blind on the matter" (Hope it makes any sense, haha)
I hope you can advise me as of what to do with it all.

Cheers
