Elf Warriors (Stompy-ish)

by DedWards on 01 January 2010

Main Deck (60 cards)

Sideboard (0 cards)

No sideboard found.

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

This is a modification of my elf warriors deck. Hopefully this one will work better. Not sure if i should use vines of vastwood instead of primal bellow.

*EDIT* Did a few changes as per surewhynot's suggestions

This look nice :)

I really like this one. Similar to mine. Thanks for your comment, anyway.

Like the Primal Bellow as a finisher. You could change Primal Bellow with Timberwatch Elf. He's not an Warrior, but an "Creature-Primal Bellow" and stronger.

Hey dude. This is a cool deck, but it isn't 100% Stompy yet. Tribal-Stomp is not an easy task, and leave it to you to make it harder by making it a double tribal =P

First off, the Obsidian Battle-Axe is cool, but not worth using.

Imperious Perfect isn't really Stompy, but I think we can make the same (general) effect. And I think you can do better than just the basic Elvish Warriors. Last thing is, with a deck this fast, you can easily go with 18 lands

So, That's 14 cards to swap out for other stuff. I'd say you can rock out with 3 Talara's Battalion (so stompy), 2 Ezuri, Renegade Leader, 3 Allosorus Riders (an original Stompy card), 2 Mercy Killings, 2 Infiltration Lens (you'll need them for drawing), and 2 Joraga Warcallers.

With those, this will be a pretty frickin awesome Tribe-Stomp.

Oh, and swap out 2 more forests for 2 Oran-Rief, the Vastwood(s) if you have it. =]

Funny thing is I already own most of what you mentioned. I don't have any Ezuri and I was surprised to find I don't have any lenses (must steal some from my friends).

Ah well, at least you can still make most of the improvements =]

Unfortunately I don't have and can't get (at the moment) any Oran-Rief :(

Why not Immaculate Magistrate? Especially if you add Joraga...

i have never liked and never will like immaculate magistrate. it is way too slow of a card for any ideal elf deck. lys alana huntmaster is a far superior choice. mercy killing is great, i tend to enjoy elvish promenade, but it comes down to what you enjoy more. :) this type of aggro benefits much less from pump spells such as giant growth and/or primal bellow. the idea is to overwhelm with a mass of strong creatures, and not just one singular powerhouse. if i were you i would remove them entirely. :| finally i would advise you do not use allosaurus rider. 16 lands is a very aggressive land-base, but it does not coincide well with the card. again this should be much less about one big threat and more about an overwhelming number of small to medium sized threats. if you would like to look at my elf/warrior stompy for reference i will post the link below. without gaea's cradle it is much more budget friendly, and could serve, like i said, as a hopefully helpful reference tool. :) happy stomping! :D

Thanks for the suggestions. I also felt that allosaurus rider was a bit iffy, but I did like a turn one rider + a Nettle Sentinel, the look on my opponent's face was priceless :p

I'll try out some of the stuff you suggested and edit this deck accordingly, but I can only test it week after next when we play Legacy again :(

Wumps, I'm with you...partially. For me with elves, it goes Wirewood Pride > Timberwatch Elf > Immaculate Magistrate. However, when used with combos, the Magistrate can break some things wide open--my two favorite are Joraga Warcaller, which everyone uses, and Devoted Druid + Presence of Gond for lots of tokens. Also, if you're playing him turn four in any elf deck, you're doing something wrong--"elf" and "ramp" are basically synonymous.

Unless you're using this for modern, I'd definitely swap wirewood pride for giant growth. That is murder in a can with elves.
