Deck Description

I recently reread Gate to the Afterlife because God-Pharaoh's Gift was spoiled and decided to see if I could make a deck based around it. This is the first attempt.

I'm also trying to keep it safe from rotation.

*Edit 7 July 2017:
Added the Hour of Devastation cards.

How to Play

While the idea is to abuse the God-Pharaoh's Gift with Anointed Procession, I tried to make the deck work without either. So, the deck is all about the token production, with targets for the Gift and a way to get them into the graveyard.

> Gate to the Afterlife cheats the God-Pharaoh's Gift into play from anywhere other than exile. Hence only one Gift.
> Anointed Procession doubles all token production.
> Hidden Stockpile keeps a steady supply of tokens and is a way to manually put a creature card into the graveyard for the Gift. The scry also helps to search for other cards.
> The creatures where chosen as they make tokens without help from the Gift, meaning Anointed Procession doesn't rely on the Gift.
> I narrowed the draw option to 3 cards: Live Fast; Morbid Curiosity; and Painful Lesson. Lesson was chosen because I don't need energy, I won't always have a decent creature to sacrifice, and I can turn it on the opponent for the last 2 points of damage.

Deck discussion for Gift of the God-Pharaoh

I think that anointed procession comes way too late into play for it to have any effect, maybe put a regal caracal in there, if you eternalise it with AP it gives you two 4/4 regal caracals which each gives you 4 tokens for agrand total of 8 3/3 lifelink. I also do not see how you are ever going to be able to cheat god pharaoh's gift into play if you embalm so many creatures, you need 6 creatures in your graveyard and embalming exiles them from it.
I myself am making a deck around God pharaoh's gift, I'll link it to you if you want when I'm done with it

It's either Embalm or God God-Pharaoh's Gift that "reanimates". The point of the Embalm creatures is in case I don't have God-Pharaoh's Gift, I can still do something with them.

Anointed Procession works pretty good, but there's a reason there's only 3 in the deck, and that's because of its mana cost. It's also the only way to double up on God-Pharaoh's Gift tokens as the Gift only creates 1 4/4 zombie a turn. Hidden Stockpile clogs up the ground long enough to assemble the rest, and it helps dig for the other cards with its scry.

I considered Regal Caracal because of the two free cats and the boost to Sacred Cat, but the 5 mana is far more restricting than Anointed Procession's 4 mana.

I'll gladly take a look at your deck :)

Not quite done yet, but it's getting there, I need some real play testing and then I'll be able to sya if it works or not

Did you consider adorned pouncer? having a 1/1 double strike for two to later have a 4/4 double strike for 6 is no laughing matter, it would also give you a Bomb, which I feel are lacking a bit in your deck

I have my eye on the Game Day promo. Want to try get a set of that print through trades. I'll see where and how I can fit it in.

Cradle of the Accursed maybe a nice addition running one could possibly give you the advantage with Anointed Procession in play.

I'd considered Cradle of the Accursed, but I feel the lack of colour mana restricting. It is worth testing though, so I'll keep it in mind when I start testing this.

I think Bontu himself would be a great addition simply because he gives you a lot of advantages, and another way to put your creatures into the graveyard.

I originally had Bontu in, but cut it to fit in God-Pharaoh's Gift, Gate of the Afterlife, and more token producing creatures. It and Yahenni are excellent sacrifice outlets.
