WHy not play with glacial ray or kamigawa's pyreitc ritual so you can splice something onto lava spike and then copy the spliced spell.

That would be because I only have 3 arcane spells in the entire deck. 3/60 is a 1/20 chance of getting that card, let alone trying to get that card with anything else. I don't like the idea of taking out stronger burn cards for a potential stronger burn combo.
Fair enough i just like my combos. Have you considered izzet guildmage?
Yes but I don't like the 3 mana to copy an instant/sorcery. I did just take out lighthouse chronologist and add call to mind. So I have the Pyromancer's Ascension/Call to Mind combo going for me now.
cool beans, faithless looting combos with ascension like a boss. As does the Dark ascension version of call to mind that can flashback.
Referring to Mystic Retrieval? Call to Mind is 1 mana cheaper, and comboed with Ascension, lets me grab the other Call to Mind that's in the graveyard. I do like the idea of adding some draw, and Faithless Looting might just do the trick.
Faithless does chuck things in your graveyard to help power up ascension even faster.
