Deck Description

An attempt in modern to duplicate the effects of 8 rack with a splash of red to take advantage of a few tasty red effects.

Namely, Kroxa and Skelemental, both of which have burn and discard effects and generate card advantage. Skelemental in particular could be a killer in a build like this, as 6 life is around 30% of opponents life which is a hell of a chunk to take in one go if everyone's out of ammo, which this deck should be able to achieve.

The rest of the deck does what 8 rack does, discard off all of opponent's material then punish him for it.

Just a twist on an existing idea in modern, thoughts appreciated.

Deck discussion for Modern Magma Rack(Competitive)

Man, 21 lands with 2 Smallpox and 3 Urza's Saga with intentions of hitting 3 drops on curve seems like a whole new level of living dangerously.

I've been pondering that, the 23 1-drops skewed my vision. Cutting one Skelemental in favor of another Blood Crypt might go a long way to fixing the problem.

As much as I love playing Smallpox in any deck that can support it (and many that can't xD) I do think this works better without it. In some metagames Fatal Push might be worse than pox though.

Anyway, the thing that I find interesting now is how good Wrench Mind is in a deck with Lightning Skelemental and Kroxas. What I mean is that, you want to get your opponent down to a low hand size ASAP, faster than regular Rack does, but you also want a payoff once there, hence maybe fewer Wrench Minds and more Shrieking Afflictions?
