Deck Description

Glissa the Traitor: A Touch of Death

How to Play

I'm limiting myself to only creatures and planeswalkers with deathtouch or that produce deathtouch tokens. Obviously I could just run goodstuff and probably make the deck better, but then I'm one of those guys who runs just goodstuff in EDH. I'd have to grow out a ponytail and get those ugly bowling shirts with anime girls on them and stop using deodorant; it's just too much work.

Joking aside, there's noting wrong with generic goodstuff. It just doesn't particularly interest in me in the one format where you can actually do something goofy and interesting and still play effectively. I've seen those metas where everyone has the "every white deck gets a Sun Titan, Reveillark and Karmic Guide! Every green deck has to run Eternal Witness and Sakura-Tribe Elder and Acidic Slime! I need a Solemn Simulacrum for every deck!" mindset. That sounds like the dullest meta with the dullest people imaginable. As such I generally set up specific rules for my decks and build within the framework of those rules. I find the decks and game and wins all much more satisfying as a result.

The deck is set up for long-range wins. I'm an unattractive target for a bunch of reasons, so my goal is to be the last cockroach left alive. There's no true combo here, though there's obviously a lot of synergy between things like Executioner's Capsule/Triangle of War and Glissa.

I'm open to any and all suggestions, providing they don't deviate from my rules:

- No creature or planeswalker without something deathtouch affiliated (Ogre Slumlord makes deathtouch tokens for example though he doesn't have it, Vraska the Unseen and Ohran Viper have the equivalent of deathtouch, etc.)

- Nothing infinite in terms of combo. There is specifically no Mindslaver lock, etc.

Notes on specific cards:

The artifact lands are a recent inclusion as a way to make a land token via Prototype Portal and as a way to fuel affinity for an early Mox Opal. Currently my meta doesn't see a ton of mass artifact sweepers outside of Vandalblast in red and the ability to tweak Austere Command and Merciless Eviction that way, but should that change I may have to reconsider these.

I ran Jester's Cap for awhile, and it's a really effective to to yank that Doubling Season, Parallel Lives and Cathars' Crusade out of a token deck, but there were enough games where it was a lot of mana to not pull anything backbreaking. I don't run in a combo-heavy meta, either, so there tends to not be combo pieces I care about.

Tangle Wire and Smokestack were part of the deck for awhile, and both were reasonably effective, but I also felt both were reasonably annoying. I'm not married to that idea though and would always re-add them should a compelling argument be made.

Sever the Bloodline is something I run because my meta has a lot of token decks, and a lot of indestructible commanders. The flexibility of being able to destroy a dozen tokens in one swing or deal with a Tajic wearing eleven swords outweighs being a sorcery. In a different meta I'd run Hero's Downfall or Go for the Throat, but where I play Sever is my go-to black targeted removal spell because it deals with two things I see a lot.
