Deck Description

The aim of the game is to turn your opponents lands into artifacts and then destroy them with spells and creatures.

With this deck I am trying to create a non-budget version of a deck idea you will find here:
https://www.mtgvault.com/jaded/decks/budget-land-destruction-combo/

https://www.mtgvault.com/kingcurtis/decks/land-shaper/

How to Play

The ideal opener:
Start the game with ideally an Arbor elf.

Turn 2 play a Utopia sprawl on the untapped forest, you have 4 mana to play around with. Play a Liquimetal coating target an opponents land + natural state or Oxidize.
(Liquimetal coating is by far the best card in the deck, without it or Myr landshaper the deck hardly works and due to the summoning sickness mechanic Myr landshaper is slow. This is why we play x4 ancient stirrings and x2 Serum visions with our fingers crossed. If its not your lucky day we still have x2 fabricate to pull one out)

Turn 3 if you are 1 or 2 turns behind (if your opponent has 2 or more lands on the battlefield, plow under is a great option as unless your opponent can shuffle his or her library he will be drawing lands his next two turns (this sounds bad but once we have our setup it will be awsome. Splinter is also great, against indestructible lands like Darksteel Citadel which is x4 in 100% of affinity decks (I have also been testing this vs 42 land swan hunt, 1 splinter removes exactly 1/3rd of their deck if you target a mountain, its glorious).

To get our setup going we need to get either Liquimetal coating or Myr landshaper on the battlefield and either a Trygon Predator or a Glissa Sunseeker. This way we can keep your opponent at 1 or 0 lands, while you slowly chip away at their life total 1 or 2 damage at a time until they dize.

World breaker, may seem a little overkill, but if you are losing it can get you back in the game. However it is one card that can be replaced.

I was testing Viridian Revel against Lifecrafters beastiary and Howling mine, and due to the fact that Lifecrafters gives you a scry 1 every turn, and that World breaker and splinter exile artifacts instead of putting things in graveyards makes it have more value. However Howling mine being 1 cheaper makes it alot more handy and it doesnt matter if your opponent draws a bunch of cards when they can only play a land a turn. Also it can be a hit with Ancient stirrings.

As for lands x4 Misty rainforest is standard, but may be a bit expensive, could replace them with x2 forest x2 Botanical sanctum. x4 Yavimaya coast as it produces a colourless source for reviving World Breaker. And x4 Breeding pool as it can be targetted with Utopia Sprawl due to the fact that its a forest. Lumbering falls is also great, you may consider putting x1 more in however you do not want to be landlocked on important turn 2. An island may seem like its not necessary but vs a Path to exile it can be a lifesaver to play a Trygon Predator.

For the sideboard i have added x1 AEtherize and x1 whiplash trap, because if you find yourself destroying your opponents creatures due to pressure rather than their lands, these cards are great vs tokens or vs decks with more creatures than you can handle. Against cheap counters (remand, manaleak, spell-pierce ), I have added x2 Guttural response. Witchbane orb and negate can be great against burn decks amongst others, plus it can be a hit with Ancient stirrings as its colourless.
And finally Relic of progenitus against decks with a graveyard aspect, especially good against a scary Life of the Loam. Finally Nissa if you are missing just that little bit of value vs a slower deck, can also be handy as a damage mitigator.

Deck discussion for Land Destruction

Argent Mutation is too expensive for what it is doing in my opinion. You could instead grab some Scry or draw cards to get either Liquimetal or Landshaper faster

I agree, plus its too little value even if it does draw a card. I replaced it -2 Argent Mutation, x2 Plow under. If you could recommend a good card with draw or scry I would consider putting it into my deck.
Thanks for the input.

Depends on the format; for someone like Legacy or Vintage you will find a lot of different cards from the Tutors up to Ancestral Vision. In modern you have some resources to use like Serum Visions, Opt, Sleight of Hand for simple card draw, Whir of Invention or Fabricate for targeted artifact search or Nissa, Stewar of Elements as an example that contains both, Scry 2 as +2 Trigger and then when it is powered enought the 0 trigger that lets you put land/creature cards into play for free.

I like Nissa very well but it is at least a 3 mana drop so you should consider using something with "more value" in early game, on late game she is unbeatable as search and/or spawn trigger.

Edit: Forgot about some cards with the Explore trigger. I fiddled arround with Jadelight Ranger and Gaea's Blessing a lot last times

Main Deck: -1 world breaker -1 splinter -1 oxidize -2 lifecrafter's beastiary, -4 forest
x2 Serum visions x1 Howling mine x2 Fabricate x4 Misty rainforest

Sideboard: -3 Negate -2 Whiplash trap -3 Display of dominance,
x3 Thorn of Amethyst x2 Guttural response x2 Nissa, steward of Elements, x1 Splinter

Thanks again for the suggestions. I would prefer the deck to be in Modern, mostly because i know more of the cards a bit better than other formats (even though I didnt know the card "fabricate" existed), but I guess you could just replace the Serum visions with Brainstorms and you might be good to go for vintage.

I agree that Nissa might be a bit to janky for the early game so I put her in the sideboard, maybe if you are lacking the value you can switch her in for Oxidizes. As for the early game Equivalent I have put in a howling mine, its a colourless hit with Ancient stirrings and as you dont care how many cards your opponent draws once you have the win condition it seems ok.
Explore creatures do seem in my mind to take the deck away from its strategy and just be some empty or janky tempo/draw so I have chosen not to put anything with that mechanic in the deck.

I am still very inexperienced in deckbuilding, alot of the knowledge I have is translated from hearthstone, so if i have said or swapped anything wrong I wouldnt be surprised.

Seems pretty ok to me, experience comes while playing and the game just needs some brews because everyone copy meta decks dosent make the game fun ;)
