Deck Description

Do you ever feel like a standard game of magic just takes too damn long? Who has time to play though more than 7 turns? With this deck you will be blitzing your opponents or by turn 5...or you will fizzle and just get rocked, one of the two. Either way, the game should be over by turn 6 most of the time. The deck is pretty cheap to make if you take out the Scaling Tarns and Steam Vents. While they do make the deck run more smoothly, the deck still has the same basic feel without them bumping the price up from ~$50 to about 10 times that.

Still tinkering with the sideboard for the time being.

How to Play

Basic concept is Kiln Fiend + Low costs in Instants and Sorceries is fun and can net you some early kills. The Standard combo would be Kiln Fiend + distortion strike. If everything go yours way you can get a turn 3 win using Kiln Fiend, Distortion strike, Lighting bolt and an Assault Strobe. The deck has pretty much no late or even mid game though. Much like RDW it needs to win early, or it will just fizzle.

I think you can run gut shot x4, just for some more free spells. id also replace delver with nivmagus elemental, he is just more powerful in your deck. if you really want to get crazy, splash black for tainted strike and death's shadow. works well

I think Gut Shot is really only good in a Storm deck honestly. I feel like there are better burn cards that could be used in this deck.

Why you put "Retract" in sb? also find some place for Apostle's Blessing x3-4, because all combo need protect)

Apostle's Blessings and Mizzium Skin is great for protecting your Kiln Fiend and they also count as spells and they cost 1 :)
Add Temur Battle Rage cause will get your Kiln Fiend a Double strike and Trample and is an Instant so you can suprise a few :D

Apostles blessing is important. Temur battle rage over assault strobe. Simian spirit guide or snapcaster mage over Delver.

I like Apostle's blessing and it will replace Artful dodge quite efficiently. Since Apostle's Blessing can be used as evasion or for defensive purposes. However I think Assault strobe fits better than Temur because evasion is already so prevalent that trample for double the mana cost is excessive. Removing Delver will put too much weight on Kiln Fiend and Nivix especially since there's no tutor to find them or a card draw engine. Having more mana or instants will greatly help Kiln Fiend but you can't help something that's not there.

Hahaha this deck is silly. I love most of this deck, but I'm not a fan of Fling. You're probably planning on sacrificing a pumped creature, but you have to sacrifice them as a cost to cast fling. So you don't get the extra 3 damage from playing another instant spell. I don't want to beat a dead horse here, so other than adding Apostle's Blessing I think this deck would benefit from being able to draw more cards with Serum Visions, Slight of Hand, or even Manapurpose. (Manapurpose was a suggestion so you don't have to shock yourself to play Mutagenic Growth but you might just want to add a forest) If you're staying away from storm spells to help establish this decks identity, I totally understand, but I think storm has the best red/blue mana-ramping and card drawing instants and sorceries that would help your creatures go off.

Nice deck overall. I think that you're lacking on the creature front though for this deck. Here are my suggestions..

Drop the Flings and 2 mountains.. add 1 Steam Vent and 2 Cyclops
Drop Artful Dodge and Assault Strobe.. add 4 Rift Bolt

Pretty nice deck overall though. On the cheap side for a Modern deck too, and I can definitely see this deck being competitive. +1 Like.

If you have some time, I'd appreciate some feedback on my newest deck :]

Yeah, I'd suggest replacing skullcracks with brute forces. It's also 1 less mana and (if needed) buff up the toughness

You have too few creatures. One bolt/path/smother will ruin you, and you ll end up with 7 sorceries in hand an no creatures
