Deck Description

Hard lock your opponent with the Solemnity/unlife combo

We protect our combo with things like greater auramancy, thoughtseize, and inquisition.

We also have liliana to grind away our opponents hand, and keep the field clear, while threatening taking away half the opponents lands.

We win by either swinging in with angels produced by sigil, tidehollows, or master of the feast (who is an enchantment)

this is midrange and has a pretty hard time against aggro and tron.

Deck discussion for Hard Lock

Runes halo is love. Runes halo is life. Helps shore up aggro matchups. As for tron enchantment anything just accepts that it can't beat tron. The best we can do is sideboard spreading seas and bribery, but the matchup is still nigh unwinnable.

yeah i suppose i will SB some spreading seas. but i saw a spoiler card for an artifact coming in Dominaria, that totally hoses Tron. or at least dealys it.

What's your answer to cards like Back to Nature / Paraselene? It's a card not only good against this lock, but also the GW Bogles deck, and is why I have Primeval Light in the sideboard of my Ponza deck.

Back to nature and hard enchantment hate is bad in modern. You play these decks because of that fact. Also, turn 0 leyline shuts off primeval light.

Hmm well the only 2 cards that come to mind at the moment are Heroic Intervention (which i don't want to splash green if possible) or That Which Was Taken. I can also SB some counter spells, but i feel like those would take up valuable space.

But i am definitely interested in any opinions or suggestions you have.

Actually upon further investigating, I found the card Nevermore. I figure if i SB 2 of those that should probably help me with a majority of those matches. what do you think?

Nevermore is the Meddling Mage of enchantments, and is a good followup after Thoughtseize / Tidehollow Sculler. Almost good enough to mainboard. With good timing it can both protect your stuff or shut down the opponent's win condition. Can you imagine dropping this naming Jace, the Mind Sculptor?

@Couch312 the reason I chose Primeval Light is Blood Moon creates a soft lock on most decks and is very bad (for me) once removed. In other decks I would use the non target variants.

hmmm good point. you think mine board the nevermore and replace thrassa and erbos? I like Erebos because of his activated ability.

My knowledge on this combo is limited, but I did find this:

Maybe this can help you / give you ideas.

I understand that part, I was just saying that in general, enchantment hate isn't great. If your meta is full of bogies then I get it, but generally speaking nature's claim and/or destructive revelry are enough. I also own and play ponza a lot, but my meta is not full of enchantments, nor is the overall meta. Mostly it's just search for azcanta and blood moon.

This is the enchantment list I've been running for a while, it does relatively well.

MTG goldfish had a few good ideas. however i think i will main board the nevermores. but questions is how many? also should i run more removal in place of the creatures? or just keep the disruption i have with tidehollow?
