Deck Description

This is a deck I made out of the standard cards I owned. I looked a little bit for other standard decks in Grixis colors, however I didn't find much. I'm looking for some advice on various cards to add/remove to make the deck function better. Thanks.

Deck discussion for Grixis Control Standard

Well, I'm not a control player, so I'm not the best one to advise you...hopefully, your deck will attract the attention of someone who is, who can give you good counsel. What I can say is that control is about controlling your opponent/the board until you're in a position to make your own big plays. To do this, you need counter spells, hand disruption, & removal, all of which are definitely available in Grixis colors, although I don't if Standard is favoring them right now. Also, it's more or less SOP when playing control to never tap out on your turn, as you need to be able to disrupt your opponent's (& when they realize you're playing control, the fact that you have mana open will definitely give them pause). Your only high CMC spells s/b your win conditions/bombs (in Grixis, for example, Silumgar). And since you can't afford to be mana-screwed, you have to invest quite a bit in your mana base. My suggestion, for whatever it's worth, would be to keep looking at control decks (if you don't find enough here on Vault, try other sites, like Tapped Out), & maybe also scout-out some online tutorials. If it seems like 3-color control might be too expensive to start w/, you could always choose the 1-2 colors you're most interested in playing & start w/ those, expanding as you go. (Keep in mind that post-rotation, KTK, ORI, & BFZ are all you should be looking at.) As for what you're currently working w/, there's definitely some good stuff in there, but be careful not to make your deck too top-heavy w/ lots of high-CMC spells. Don't know if any of this helped, but good luck to you, & thanks for the deck! :)
